  • After two earlier short fast charging sessions (never more than 10 minutes) it's time for the real test. Warm winter day around 10 degrees celsius.
Having been on local and highway roads for the day getting the machine down to 5% SoC.
More about consumption and other review material coming in future video/blog.
A couple of days with the AIways U5!
A €40K machine available in The Netherlands right now.

Thats a flat charging curve, not too bad :) But the most important disadvantage for me is the single phase onboardcharger.

Car says 5% , charger says 10% I would say that is good news :)

Hi Felix! Nice review! Any idea about MG marvel R ? I see these two competitions for each other. I am wondering what’s ur opinion on which one is better in terms of range and charging speed?

Would love to try one out indeed. It seems the company Van Mossel is in charge in The Netherlands. I don't see any on the road here yet, I guess deliverability has been an issue (for a year already) but when I can get my hands on one, I will let you know!

Looking forward to it. I am going for test drive tomorrow for U5. And probably week after for Marvel R. Really considering these two cars for myself. that’s why looking into reviews about charging and ranges.

At 60% SOC it was beating the charge rate of the polestar at 50% SOC?

I still have to test the Polestar 2 myself, but it could be true yes. Probably also depending on battery temp and maybe new software will help (the P2).

What do you think about the Aiways U5? Is it worth considering?

Really depends on what you're looking for! Pedal response isn't very subtle, as a driver I think that's a bit sad. Since you will learn how to manage it's not a serious issue.
Winter range is not very impressive but fast charging works fine! So rather surprised for the price. My full roadtrip can be checked out a electricfelix.com/trips and soon there will be a blog about the car.

fastnedcharging.com/en/choose-your-priceplan -- Fastned typically charges 0,59/kWh, but you can for example use a Maingau charging card for a more competitive price and if you visit twice a month becoming a Gold member at 12/month is a smart idea. Then it will be 0,35/kWh which would mean 50x0,35=17,50 euros for this charging session!
