- This is what it is like to hike the Awa'awapuhi Trail and it's definitely not for beginners! This is my journey and thoughts about taking this hike. I don't do much editing as I want people to see what places and events are really like. I hope you enjoy the video and subscribe to my channel.

The Awaawapuhi Trail will take you on an ultimate journey as you ascend from 4,120 feet elevation in the Kokee State Park to the valley rim of Nualolo and Awa’awapuhi valleys at 2,500 feet. The trail will lead you through the rain forest, high desert-like terrain and to some of the most awe-inspiring vistas on Kauai’s Napali Coast. Awa’awapuhi Trail is a continual downhill hike from the trailhead to the grassy clearing overlooking the valleys.

I went there last June. Love being up at the top of the cliff top edge head . Looking down the canyon and below the sea floor. . I did cross over that small end cliff so scared though however, once in my lifetime at age 50 plus 🙃

You kept saying it’s 1000ft high.. the trail end to sea level. It’s almost 3000ft. 2,500 ft according to Hawaii DLNR website.
