Very pretty! If you store the inks face down more ink will come to the top of the pad. Also, try spraying the pad with just a bit of water. It will reactivate any dry ink that’s left there.

If you use a little stiff stenciling brush with your ink pad you will get a little more color and it would be easier. I've even used stiff acrylic paint brushes

That shipment of cards may have been purchased in bulk from the casino. Once a deck is used, they mark it in some form, ie trimming corners or punching a hole in the middle so they are not reused.

My favorite is the girl !! I bought a bunch of decks of these cards from the dollar tree also. A lot of the decks are mismatched with extra suits of cards so it doesn’t hurt me to to use them as ephemera Lolol. I am inspired by your video

That's a deck that was used in the Golden nugget casino (no idea which one). They cut the corners so you can't sneak that deck into the floor and use it to cheat. All casinos mark their used decks. I had a deck that had a tiny hole right thru the entire middle of the card. Maybe a quarter inch, straight thru lol
Oh wow, I had no idea! Well, they are perfect for altering, hahahaha.
I don't do playing cards but I do do index cards. I decorate one side and then a quote or Bible verse on the other side and I bought a little box for recipes and I put them in it so they can b flipped through. Last year I made one for every female in my family and gave them as Christmas gifts. They were a huge hit.

Smaller ink pads--you can rejuvenate them with a little water...you may already know that.

Yeah I got the same set but only two of the corners were cut, ugh, so I sliced all of them and recut all the corners. I guess all in a craft day

Does the glue stick "let go" over time? I've always been leery of using it. GREAT APCs!
Once in a while I'll see some lift, but gluing paper to paper, if you use enough glue stick, it should last. I've since switched over to the Scotch Create Multi Purpose glue stick, and I like it even better 😉

What do you put on the back of the playing card..do you cover that also?
Yes, I cover the back with tea or coffee dyed paper when adding them to a journal. ❤
What to do with the cards after you make then??
The most common use is to put a piece of regular or coffee-dyed paper on the other side and put them in a journal as additional journaling space. Or you could paper the back and add a special quote to keep for yourself or give to someone.
Ideas of ways to use the cards you make??
You could make a group with similar colors and contents to use as trading cards to trade or give to friends. Or, put them in sleeves and keep them as a collection in a book like baseball cards.

What are you doing to the back?
When selected to add to a journal, I glue some coffee dyed paper on the back.
Why are you not covering the face of the cards,,,that is the first thing I'd do
If I end up adding it to a journal and want writing space then I'll go back and cover it with some lined, or coffee dyed paper. But, I may just leave it, as is, for interest. It boils down to not yet knowing where it will go and how I want to use it. However, you can certainly do that first. That is the glory of crafting...no rules!

*i've done literally hundreds of card collage and been a contributor to a gallery display many years ago thanks in part to the collaborations and contacts made on deviantart that included thousands from around the world...the organizer recommended that i avoid gluesticks during the assembly of collage because they were in her words "boogery" ...i use ph neutral bookbinding adhesive when i have it but i've also used other things like gorilla glue...but then my cards already look distressed so this is not really an issue of them looking pretty or pristine...i also tend to make the cards thicker by either gluing/stacking two or three cards together and placing heavy weights on them until dry...i then guild the edges with a gold paint pen...sometimes i'll even burn the edges which can add a bit more visual interest to a given piece especially if you work in a nonlineal organic abstract sort of way (dyslexic brain and left handed for many decades)...i also spend as much time on the back of the cards as i do on the front...i also employ the larger jumbo cards aw well...such as this example: **www.deviantart.com/scottman2th/art/The-Lepidopterist-202132099* * something to also consider would be crumpling the cards then sliding an ink stamp pad lightly over them then adding some more stain to the cards...i work in layers so i'ts not unusual for a given card to have several layers of inks and stains alone before other images are placed over them then sealed/preserved... i've also used large floor puzzle pieces which can be a lot of fun if used as a group collaboration or one where you randomly do the collage on the pieces over time then assemble them once finished*

@@TheArtfulAddict *you're very welcome... another idea to consider would be to make junk journals (with themes) by using multi media paper and doing your own bookbinding projects...i also keep a look out for old magazines or discarded bits with unusual textures or shapes on them...i have accordion files filled with images so i can quickly assemble an overall idea then set it aside for later...i also have a pretty extensive collection of fountain pen inks that can be utilized for background washes in various tonal combinations...after watching the first few minutes of your video i went out and bought several decks of the cards you used from one of the local dollar tree stores that is less than two miles from the house so i'll be prepping them for my next series of cards or have them ready to use on a moments notice when inspiration strikes me...also check at local comic book stores...ask them for any damaged comics that cannot be sold or the preview magazines they are about to throw away...some really good art to be found there...something else you might find helpful would to be start stockpiling scrapbooking collection books from places like hobby lobby especially when on sale...don't use then right away but save them till you have a nice stack of them maybe six or ten...then find a local stationary or printing shop that has an industrial cutter that does small custom work and then have them cut them to the 2.5 X 3.5 size you need...also have them save the trimmings...they'll be small but you can always use them for gift tags later...i've done this a few times already in the past and i'm still using what was cut years ago...you also have an advantage in this because you can combine different shades and textures more easily...i tear them up and burn the edges than reassemble them...the results are very cool and very difficult to replicate any other way...might want to use some complementary watercolor or ink washes on the back of these bits before gluing them down...this is more for adding a bit of interest later on as the cards are nicked and dinged over time...very subtle yes, and few would ever really notice but when someone does (eventually) it will be a nice nod to your attention to detail...i've also found some good quality collage element collections on wish...might take a while for them to arrive but i've been happy with the sets i've gotten*
I've put a few journals together, Christmas, etc. I thought the shape of those cards were pretty cool. When I opened them up, the cut off edges were a pleasant surprise! Thank your for sharing such great information!
