p.s. Yes, Davinci Resolve CAN edit 360 videos (although 5.7K resolution requires the paid Studio version). You can however, reframe your 360 videos natively in Davinci with the free version exporting up to 4K resolution. I've got a tutorial inside my 360 Video 101 course that will show you how to do that 👊🏻 go.benclaremont.com/360video101_129
Very nice 🎉
Hi, I googled DaVinci and it's ability to import and many people have the same issue - that many codecs are missing. I know I can reformat my clips but from my latest motorcycle trip I have more than 1000 of them and doubling the storage space is not something I want to do. I'm on Linux and programs such as Olive, Shotcut, kdenlive have no problems importing the clips. Resolve seems nice and I thought I'd give it a go, but for now I'll stick with Olive.
Most people live to around 85 and people don't want to waste their entire life trying to figure out some useless program for editing when all they want to do is edit so Davinci is hopeless from the very sttart.
People who make tutorials are a gift to mankind
ive watched so many and they just seem to confuse me

So true, this is a good 1
Some additional thoughts, when I followed your steps with a new install of DR 18.6 on my Windows 10 machine, some of the panels you showed were not visible by default and I really struggled to find how to display them. These questions are SO basic that no-one bothers to answer them anywhere.
For example, the "Control Room" panel was extremely hard to find. I eventually found it:
Workspace > Show Panel in Workspace > Meters
Similarly, I couldn't find the Audio options for trying dialogue levelling, until I figured out I needed the Inspector selected on the top right.
So a basics video is incredibly helpful, until there's something different between your interface and what we see, and then we're completely screwed. Something to consider for next time. Thanks again.
Thank you so much. I spent a solid bit trying to figure out what was up with the control room panel.
Same, thanks for sharing this info! I run into this problem constantly with tutorials on other programs as well!
Coming from iMovie, I was so overwhelmed with all the features da Vinci has to offer. Thank's for your tutorial - I wish I had found it earlier.
Me too iMovie not that good
Yeah same I'm coming from iMovie too
Tbh DaVinci feels like imovie and premiere mixed together
moving from imovie too 😭lowkey sick of it
Your video was literally only one thing what i needed to make my first video. Easy to follow steps. Explained well. Thank you for that.
I’ve just started using Davinci Resolve and this video has got to be the best introduction video for new starters to date. Many thanks
Great to hear!
This was SUCH a concise guide to jumping in and starting, wonderful stuff Ben!
Glad it was helpful 😀
Thank you so much, I was looking for exactly this!
Fantastic job providing a FAST look at what it's like to use Resolve. Thank you.

Just got done with my first 90 minutes on the program. This was super helpful and well edited.

Short, succinct and to the point! That was very helpful and cleared up so many questions. Thank you!
Very helpful! Thanks a ton for creating this tutorial!
Absolutely superb tutorial! Thank you a million. I spent a day trying to get started in Pr and simply had enough. DaVinci is exactly the way I would design a video editing software.
Thanks for the tips Ben
Very Helpful. Thank you for a great video on the layout. quick and to the point. no unnecessary fluff.

Thank you, absolute life saver
Very clear and straight to the point, thank you! I was using Premier Pro and Vegas before, just wanted a quick walkthrough to familiarise myself with DaVinci Resolve's layout and this guide was perfect for it.
Glad you liked it 😀
I found this really helpful, many thanks!
Great tutorial. Succinct and to the point. Thank you.
nice one. concise, helpful, and easy to understand.
Great Video! Thanks for such a clear simple, straight forward quick basic intro to Davinvi
Excellent demo, mate!
I just learned about Davinci Resolve about 30 minutes ago (I was trying to find an alternative to Premiere because it's just way too much for me). Found this video and I'm super impressed. I have a hard time learning these programs and you break down the basics so well. Thank you for making this video.
Thanks a lot buddy for such a simply explained video! Subscribed already!
Very clear and concise, thank you.
Best no BS Tutorial! Well done!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Excellent as always sir...!
Bro your a saviour ❤
Great video, thanks.
Perfecto ❤
Thank you
Excellent video! I have not ever electronically edited a video, when I was in high school (1970s) we edited 16mm film by literally cutting and splicing. My son has edited with DaVinci Resolve and is going to coach me. Your video is very helpful and encouraging - now I'm not scared to try. I fly as a hobby and I've started taking an action camera along.
Glad to hear it! Yes I also edited film in film school… thankfully those days are over 😀
This was so helpful n short ty
Thanks Ben 👍
thanks
Informative and easily understandable video. Thanks & Regards.
Great entry video tutorial! Clean, fast, and to the point. Sadly some content creators seem to like the sound of their own voice a bit too much so they can get drawn out. Thanks for not doing that!
My pleasure- tried to keep it as ‘to the point’ as possible 😀
amazing. great job
This was really helpful. Thank you.
Great video. It helped me get started with the quick basics. The manual was kind of hard to understand, so I'm glad I found your video.
Glad it helped!
Ok will try
Thanks super helpful gonnna try making content and this helps get some of that fear of trying out the way.
Ben, hi. There are a lot of lessons on Davinci online, and lessons on processing 360 video in Davinci are very few. This is what we expect from you. Lessons on adding 360 different objects and 3d inscriptions to the video will also be interesting. Good luck. I expect new lessons from you and, as always, your beautiful smile. Anton
Hi Anton, yes this is just the first of many videos to come on Davinci resolve.
Thankyou.
Thank you for this no-nonsense, concise intro to this software and how to edit a basic video. This was just what I was looking for, and I'll recommend this video to others who are asking what software I'm using. I'm only a beginner with DVR, but this video made sense to me. Cheers.
thank you
Helll yeah I'm gonna produce on this from now on
Thanks
Great video
Thank you. I'm just leaning DaVinci for my drone photographs and videos and I just got a Insta360 x3. I look forward to more videos on DaVinci.
DaVinci is a total waste of my precious time and doesn't do what I want which is edit 4K video the fastest and easiest. I use a 4K convertor to change the sound to mp3 and change HDR video to non HDR video while keeping everything 4K. So I use TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 6 and VideoReDoTVSuite6. This took years of trial and error to come up with the fastest 2 programs which only work with a 4K convertor.
Awesome Video @BenClarmont Thanks Brother❤❤🙏🙏
Very good introduction 👍
Awesome video. I was so overwhelmed to even try this editor but now I feel I can. Thank you
I'm just starting my CZcams journey and decided to switch from iMovie to DaVinci and was so overwhelmed, this was helpful thank you! lets hope it goes well 😂
Great video Ben. I second the comment about additional videos dealing with 360 video editing in DaVinci resolve. I’m mainly interested in 360 video editing for VR export, not reframing for 2 D export.
Great beginners guide tutorial Ben! New users should bookmark this one! 👏👏👏
Glad you liked it 😀
thanks!!
Best part is that you most likely used Davinci to edit this exact video. Thank you so much, I just didn't know how to start out.
wondaaafulll
Very nice my friend no time wasted
Thanks Ben! I've just switched from Premiere Pro as well and this video was exactly what I needed 👍
Happy to hear it 😀
I've been editing with Premiere for some months now and I feel pretty comfortable with it, as a challenge to myself I am starting to learn davinci, ngl it looks kind of intimidating but I guess that's just how everything looks when you're new at it.
Thank you :)
ty!
Nice tutorial!
very good bro idont know anything about davinci so after looking i think now i know all
Thankyou . I am coming from Power Director and your video was useful.
Thanks for the lesson!
My pleasure!
Thank you! ✨🌺🙏🌈🤍💗
Any time!
I’m fearful of moving from Vegas but this was no nonsense. Thank you!
That's a wonderful video man.!! I'm going switch from Premiere Pro to Davinci.!!!
Very helpful. My team is editing with DaVinci for a couple of years now, and I was producing my CZcams videos in the beginning myself, but never did the switch to DaVinci Resolve. And to see a quick overview and how similar it is to other editing programs just helped me a lot, since I will go back to the editing myself look forward to it a lot. Thanks so much ✊
Glad to hear it! Yep, most editors perform in a very similar way, hence why it will be easy for you to pick it up 😀
Thank u. I avoided this program -despite the overwhelmingly positive reviews- for one reason only. So many people were saying there's a steep learning curve and that it's not beginner friendly. While that may be true, it's far less intimidating than I thought. It looks ultra helpful and cool. Perhaps even better organized than what I was using before, and with far more tools. I'm actually glad I encountered an unfixable error with the old one and was forced to consider this far superior option. And as someone who has no income currently, I really could not have asked for anything better.
Great video - currently using Final Cut but this has a number of features that I like. I will definitely use it for colour correction first and then try out more features. So I may end up with a hybrid or be a full convert . Only time will tell
