Lyrics: now i have the gan 11m duo and i have some mixed opinions about this cube now before i get into that you may also know that i have the gan 11m pro and so as well as reviewing the gan 11 m duo i will also be comparing it to the pro so anyways this is my review on the gan 11m duo and here's what i said in the unboxing here we have the gan 11m duo all right so here it is i assume we have the same things but based on what i know it does not come with adjustable magnets and so yeah pamphlet some other paper stuff we have the gan bag and we have the tensioning tool so yeah but the only difference is we don't have the magnets okay so let's see let's open this up you want just for you guys to you know yeah yeah okay just based on like holding them the duo feels a bit lighter but you know it could be because of like the stickers and all that but this is stickered and this is stickerless and i don't know it might have a similar feel but i also think that could be a bit different so let's do first turns huh so it does feel different but it could be because this cube is lubed and this isn't i mean they'll not loop the same way like this cube it feels more like feels silky smooth because of the lubes this is yeah more papery this is interesting so based on what i know yeah this cube does not have adjustable magnets unlike the gan 11m pro not only does it have adjustable magnets on the flat parts of the corners but also the core magnets on the corner pieces and so yeah and when we open the sensor caps yep the tensioning system is the same and so yeah the only difference is you do not have adjustable magnets so later on i did loop the cube the same way i lubed the pro which was with angstrom gravitas and dignitas so i put that in then i broke it in well really monday thursday you have a warm up for me on wednesday and the cube was pretty nice after that now i did have one problem with the cube but i'll touch on that a little later but i also didn't really talk about the feel of the cube that well during the unboxing so now this cube has like a mix of a silky smooth feel and a pain three smooth feel and it also feels kind of glidy rather than a frictiony kind of feel if that's a word and i kind of enjoy that if you felt the rs3m that's more like a frictiony feel this is kind of different this is more gliding controllability is good and i don't feel like i need to make my turns any more accurate which if you've seen my last video is something i care about quite a bit now if you're wondering how i tension the cube the spring compression is on the light blue setting with it on number one and the tension is on the first click and just overall the cube is great but now let's talk about the problem i had with the gan 11m duo and that was the magnets yeah at first i didn't think it was that bad but after i did a few solves it wasn't too great and to be more specific i just thought it was slightly too strong and because of that it made the cube less fluid and this might sound familiar because the same thing happened to the pro and yes even though i put the pro on the weakest magnet strength it still the magnet still felt a little overbearing and so what i did to the pro to fix it was i lubed it with angstrom lubes and it made the cube more fluid and the magnets less overbearing so i tried the same thing with the duo and the thing is with the duo is that it's actually a lighter cube than the pro apparently the dual is like 60 grams and the pros like 64 67 i'm not even sure and usually the lighter the cube is the more reliable the magnets are and also the lighter the cube the magnets seem to feel stronger if you know where i'm getting at you might need to put some thought to that just saying and so anyways when i lubed the cube with the angstrom loops it didn't solvethe problem that well especially compared to when i leave the pro and that was a bit of a problem for me and so what i decided to do next was lube it with compound x it didn't immediately fix the problem but after a few solves it started to work a bit and now it's a little more fluid and the magnets are less overbearing now but in terms of how well the magnets work on the cube i still think the pro is better than the duo and just letting guys know that this is a personal problem and it probably won't affect you as much as it did to me so just keep that in mind so which cube do i think you should get well first i want you to know that i actually don't recommend you buy either of these cubes because i don't think you should be paying that much for a cube but if your decision is strictly between the duo and the pro here's what i have to say if you care about magnet strength go for the pro because you might not like the magnet strength of the duo like like me but i guess i'm just very specific on what kind of magnet strength i want on a cube but if you don't care too much about magnet strength go for the duo but usually those who are like sub 10 or sub like average around 8 or 7 they're most likely gonna want the duo because because having a cube that suits your turning style is very it's pretty essential and so with the customization of the pro it's gonna help them achieve uh feel that they want but yeah uh i wish i had more to say but it's hard it's hard for me to recommend because you know the main thing between these are the magnets and i don't know what kind of magnet strength you want i wish i could say this is like a amazing magnet strength because then i could just say just get this because it's most likely a good magnet strength for you but i don't know about that but so it's hard for me to recommend one cube over the other so yeah this is not going well you decide yeah anyways that's it for I had the exact same problem with my Duo. I tried to set it up with Angstrom lubes and other things, but it didn’t seem to work. I then decided to keep the cube dry without lube, and I think that this is honestly not that bad of a setup. Quite a solid cube after that.
The way you talk about Magnet Strength, I think this is a strong case why you love the WRM (or the RS3M) 2020. I also like my magnets so weak that they're only strong enough to align the pieces by a few mm.
I have the option to get the Gan 356m or Gan 11m Dou for almost the same price, which cube would be better ? Also I am very bad at setting up cubes, so which is easyer to set up ?
this is exactly what happened to me. I felt that the duo was going to be great, as the magnet stick wouldn't move and cause noise AND it meat more surface contact with the pieces. And it does feel and sound nicer (to me), but the magnets are too strong imo.
I found out a solution. You need a heavy or semi-heavy lube that makes the cube slow but super smooth. And then you need a fast glidey lube to make the cube fast again (ex: DNM, Stardust combined with Mystic or Lunar). To make the cube even better, lube the core with a lubiclespeedy, lubicle black or traxxas 10k. Broke it in for a couple days, and the cube becomes really2x smooth and magnets becomes significantly less overbearing

@@theslowcuber2261 I haven’t personally tried the maglev, nor the mgc evo. Maglev could be good but you might want some lubes to slow it down. I don’t really like the tornado. The gan 356 m doesn’t have a lot of customization, and I didn’t really like the duo. But the wrm has a fairly good feel and has customization.
