- Chronologically the ninth track, or third track of Side 2, on the original 1971 album “Elvis Sings The Wonderful World of Christmas”, it was also the second shortest of the eleven track contained in the album.
It was recorded by Elvis on 15 May 1971 at RCA’s studio B in Nashville and the master was achieved in ten takes. Additional backing overdubs were added on 24 May in RCA’s studio A by The Imperials and Mille Kirkham.
Orchestral overdubs were added on 22 June in RCA’s Hollywood Studios to an arrangement by Glen Spreen who himself played organ at this overdub session. It is also interesting to note that Elvis’ lead guitarist, James Burton, was also present at this overdub session adding additional guitar and also as band leader along with Glen Spreen.

This is my favourite Elvis Christmas song. Great to hear all takes from start to finish.. even the takes Elvis didn't use of his songs were better than most artists proper releases. He was untouchable in the recording studio and unmatched on stage. Quite simply the best and the best by a long long way. EP Forever.

Beautiful song Elvis’ voice so soft and smooth I was just picturing the snow Christmas trees and some holly. A peaceful scene and Karen is right I haven’t heard it either but with so many songs we are bound to not hear some.
