Fragments of Verdi's opera Rigoletto

The opera was conceived based on Victor Hugo's play "The King is Amused" (1832). The play was banned by the censors as undermining the authority of the royal court. The Italian libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave, who collaborated with Giuseppe Verdi for many years.
