Episode 6, It's the season finale and the summer getaway house is finally finished!
An outhouse/ bunkie is carefully built on the edge of Sarah's private island to accommodate more guests and family. The finishing touches are applied in the main house and Sarah gives birth so Tommy has to finish the final interior design features of the bunkie alone!

Fiona is so small here, and a cute, happy baby! She's practically all grown up now but a sweet girl. Wish I had footage of me and my siblings as babies. LOVE the bunky!

I usually hate pine panelling but it looks quite pretty with the semi-transparent stain. The birch lamps are very nice and a satisfying way to use the dear departed tree.

Sarah has since totally redesigned this property. But I totally prefer this one. She had all sorts of reasons for going more neutral and more green. And of course she has to stay fresh as a designer to generate interest in her shows. Concerning the bunkie, it always seemed completely impractical to provide a bedroom with no bathroom access. I don’t get through a single night without having to go. I can’t imagine putting a mother or mother-in-law in there and telling them that they have to just go outside and squat.
I doubt they force their older mothers to take the bunkie when they also have guest rooms.

This is definitely a labor of love. The whole project is one I would love to live in, even though it is only accessible by boat. Put it on mainland and it would be perfect!

This is kind of funny because most new build family homes in Canada don't have secondary bedrooms as big as 12 by 14 feet. A master, sure. But most new builds have kids bedrooms that are more like 10 by 11 or 12, if that. If you're in a townhouse then that is probably your master.

How do they get drinkable, clear water supply in the cottage? From some spring on the island? Or pumps from the lake, then how are they sure it's clean enough to drink it, or use it for cooking, bathing etc?

It beautiful but how does it work at night, when it's raining and your guest has to use the bathroom??
My only issue would be if I needed to use the restroom in the middle of the night, I first have to traverse a craggy slope...?

Fiona was BORN in August 2008……this show is very old!
You will get to see all kinds of the videos you want to see of Sarah and her projects when you go to her CZcams channel! You will love every minute. You will also get to see the second renovation of “Sarah’s Cottage” when you see the now pre-teen Fiona joined by her sister Robyn (not sure of the spelling) as they help their parents fix up the cabin yet again. Take notes this time, as she tells her audience what paint colors she used and shows all kinds of details. So helpful and really fun to watch.

@@sparklepea exactly! This channel is responding as if it’s owned by Sarah and nothing could be farther from the truth. Obviously she had to give permission to air these older shows. But these people are remarking like they’re true fans. If they were, they would know more about the timeline. This property has been totally redesigned since this originally aired many years ago.

No bathroom is problematic as it is for parents - and a middle of the night "call" for the bathroom. Maybe they can add an addition at some point - I don't think a Port-a Potty - is not going to fly with Sarah!
I don’t get the no bathroom, for your parents? Older people have to go to the bathroom during the night. Here you go mom. We sleep in the lap of luxury and you get the bunker.
