I love her so much. She kills it as Ruth and I watched "Inventing Anna" and I had heard "Hollywood" was kind of shitting on her accent, but I guarantee NO ONE could have created the accent and acted as close to amazing as Julia. This chick is so beyond talented and intelligent and stunningly beautiful, she's a once in a lifetime type of actress without a doubt!!
What she did in Ozark was simply spectacular. Ozark owes all of us an apology for how they handled her character. Talented actress.
the last 5 minutes of that episode was some of the most intense gut wrenching emotion ever put on film.....awesome writing, directing and especially Julia's acting......can't wait for the final 7 episodes

Julia's portrayal of Ruth on Ozark, is an absolute master class in acting.
She is one of the finest young actors of our time. She is absolutely spectacular.
Julia is so so so amazing as Ruth who, by any stretch of anyone's imagination, is a complex, tortured, crazy, strong, fragile character. Damn, I am going to miss Ozark.

Inventing Anna was an AMAZING series. If you watched Scandal you'll recognize a ton of the characters. She's so talented.
Julia Garner's performance in Ozark deserves all the awards. She is a phenomonal actress. My favorite amongst a slew of great actors/characters.
The whole cast stepped up their game this season. But damn, Julia's gunning for that third Emmy.

She is totally going for it. And She is from Bronx, which i didnt know, it makes even more awesome.
A lot of actors just put their own personalities and mannerisms into their characters and do a fine job (including Jason Bateman) but Julia is just an absolute chameleon. Her voice and mannerisms IRL are so, so different from Ruth. Such an incredible performance. I also find it so unique and brilliant that she chose a painting (rather than another performance) as a point of inspiration, so refreshing.
She embodies the role entirely. She IS Ruth. It’s a revelation.

I had this same conversation with my mom right before I watched the final run, just in terms of parallels as well as contrasts of the two characters. Both are the heart of their respective shows, but Jesse came from a privileged background and chose a life of crime, whereas Ruth came from a criminal background and was attempting to go straight. She started with nothing but still managed to lose everything, making her story all the more tragic.
Hmm, yes , Julia as Ruth was integral to Ozark. Such intensity. We watched her grow as the seasons progressed. I'd like to think we all wanted the best for Ruth.
Saw her first acting in The Americans and was impressive for a small part but now in Ozark ! She nailed ! I' ll be cheering for her !

@@988opmac For me, Blade runner's C-beams speech, This scene of Ruth in Ozark, Lord of the rings I Can't Carry It For You scene of sam and frodo, a couple of scenes from interstellar and also Willard finally meeting colonel E kurtz in Apocalypse now movie. Literally nothing else came even close to those. Didn't expect a TV show to make it into my top 5.

The fact that Julia was playing as Ruth and Anna at the same time, but still managed to be in Atlanta whenever she needed to be to stay on time with deadlines proves that she is great at her acting. For many actors, it is hard being in two different states going back in forth.

Ya she’s one of mine to but Jason bateman as Marty Byrd has tied for me cuz he fukin kills it man especially season 3-4 has been his best cuz he’s actually with the grimey side of the game like the killing and shit but when he’s being abused or fucked around he’s hilarious with his facial expressions
that accent is so cartoonish , and the character felt so monotone throughout the show , made me hate her , should have played by a better actress and with original accent

When you see her in real life and then acting , you can see how talented she is to pull out an act like that for an character.
Her ability to curse is second to none. Unlike most actors she makes it so believable and effortless.

She is so talented. Her Ruth character is so right on that I had to look up where she is from: New York. In college, I spent a summer on the Lake of the Ozarks (the show is not shot there) and vacationed there many other times. Julia nails everything about her character and I would have sworn that she is from the Ozarks in southern Missouri. As we can see here, her command of accents is incredible.
That angry scene from Ozark took my breath away when I watched it. I was watching while eating and I had to stop. My jaw dropped I said "Omg" and it felt sooo intense and heavy. Mindblowing!!

In a world where my little theatre could afford a talent like hers, she's the exact kind of actress I'd love to direct. Love it when people draw inspiration from unconventional places. And when Jimmy showed that Medusa painting I was immediately like, "OH I totally get it!" That whole string of accents she did too was just a master class. Amazing how deeply they managed to delve into her craft in an 8 minute interview. I feel like her performance as Ruth Langmore is gonna go down in history on the same level as someone like Bryan Cranston as Walter White. And she's only half the age he was when he played that role!
