    I was browsing RS Online now and found the RS-14, so I googled RS-14 reviews and came across this video. That's it, I'm ordering the multimeter right away. Thanks for making an excellent review!

      Sadly I could not order it, the RS Online site says "on backorder". My current multimeter was broken so I ran down to Builders here in Stellenbosch and bought a R195 one. It's usable but not nearly as good as the RS-14. Maybe I'll buy the RS-14 when they get it in stock.

    What a FANTASTIC Review!
    You covered everything I could think of.
    Thank Yo so much for the time and effort that went into this!

    Thanks for the review! I was looking for a multimeter for simple prototyping and repair troubleshooting. This looks like a great option and watching your review I could ensure that protection is ok and the continuity beeps consistently, rather than my last DMM's "demonic coupling". Thumbs up for a good job

    Thanks for detailed and useful review. As you show this is the good choice for home repairing. Want to buy it! :)

    Spare 10A fuses are R34.92 for a pack of 10. Used in microwave ovens, as they think a 6.3 x 32mm fuse is too expensive. Just replaced on on a microwave today, it blew the end cap off in failing. Can't see why, think it was just damp causing a flask over, as it was perfect with a new fuse.
    IC is likely a Cyrustek DMM in a chip, and with a 3V regulator on board so it will run down to 3V fine.

    BTW price reduced to R342.30 on RS website, nice to see. 4-6 days delivery though, so no local stock at the moment.

      +SeanBZA Our units took just a couple of days - seems these meters are rather popular now :-)

  • @sergionistalprieto6952

    Regarding the specifications the model RS-12 is more accurate in general than the model RS-14, isn't it?

    • @TechBench
      @TechBench  Před 7 lety

      Slightly more accurate, yes, but then again, it lacks automatic ranging. The RS-12 a fully manual meter.

      Also lack temperature measurement

    Nice video. CEM have a good products on your opinion? I wanna to buy dt-339 and dt-9927t. is this a good choice? ) Thanks.
    p.s. it's for my hobby rc/arduino

      Unfortunately I do not have any experience with any of CEM's other products, so I would not be able to render an opinion about them. All the best.

    Nice review. What's the mode button for?

    • @SeanBZA
      @SeanBZA Před 8 lety +1

      +Dean Greenhough Changes from AC to DC and from resistance to continuity and diode test.

    • @TechBench
      @TechBench  Před 8 lety

      +Dean Greenhough - SeanB is correct - mode button changes from DC to AC in current measurement, as well as between diode and continuity functions when the selector knob is in that position.

    no capacitance?

      In such a cheap meter? :-)

      @martinskanal Před 7 lety

      Just placed my order this minute:) Have found other cheap meters additionally measuring capacitance, but then with no temperature feature.. (capacitance would be a nice bonus when I am measuring my guitar leads) The RS-14 is an amazing bang for the buck and I am not complaining:)
