  • How to replace the alternator in Peugeot 307, full step-by-step guide.
    The car is a Peugeot 307 (2007; 1.6L 16v petrol; 110bhp; ~52,000miles; TU5JP4 engine). This should be the same in Citroen and Peugeot with the same 1.6 petrol engines.

    The video is about replacing the old alternator in my Peugeot 307. The old alternator is Mitsubishi 12V 120 Amps with two serial numbers: 9640088080 and A003TB2691K. My replacement alternator is Bosch with the same serial numbers. Even though the old Mitsubishi alternator said 12V the Bosch says 14V, but they all produce the same ~14.2V or so.

    There is a pin hole to fit a peg in on the pulley arm to hold it up to help fit the belt.

    I have 2003 xsara with same engine, is it any different to change the alternator on xsara? Love your videos btw ✌️

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  Před 11 měsíci

      It should be the same. Mine is 2007, but they started producing this engine 2001, so probably exactly the same.

    Hi mate I have a Question for you!
    Do you know if they do a drain plug for these cars and the 1.6 HDI Diesel that is easy to drain the oil out rather than take the drain plug out? like for instance do they do one with a liver that has a spring that can just be turned or pulled to release the oil? Something like that so that you don't ruin the thread on the oil pan and bolt on regular oil changes

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  Před rokem

      Unfortunately I am not aware of any other method to do it apart from the drain plug and suction methods through the dipstick. Probably suction pump through the dipstick is the only other method if you do not want to undo the sump bolt. I completely agree that every time one undoes the sump bolt you risk stripping the threads.

    Hi mate I have a Peugeot partner 07 1.6hdi reg is Yr57oRg can you tell me which if it’s a fixed flywheel

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  Před 10 měsíci

      Yeah, not too sure, but I think it is a fixed flywheel. Sorry, probably better to ask someone else.

    Hi there, what is the correct size belt for that particular engine, only know its 6pk

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  Před 5 měsíci

      Yeah, any 6pk1069 will work. I got a Dayco 6pk1069 a few years ago and works quite well.

      Morning sir, sorry to bother again, on the plug I've noticed there's only 1 wire connected to the plug, does it take only 1 wire? Im trying to figure out why my alternator is not charging, thanks

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  Před 5 měsíci

      @@bronwaynewilliams6851No worries at all, if I have time I will answer.
      Not too sure, but it is probably one one wire. My other Peugeot definitely has one wire on the small plug and they are both roughly the same year, although it is the 1.6HDi rather than petrol.
      Nevertheless, even without that plug one can start and the alternator should work. I have tried it with and without and there was not a difference. It is a somesort of a network to the ECU, but not that crucial

    • @bronwaynewilliams6851
      @bronwaynewilliams6851 Před 5 měsíci

      Ok thanks, ive replaced the brushes on it and yet still the battery light shows, and stuff like power steering failure, components thats running of the battery, i have endless problems with that car

    • @moremolecules
      @moremolecules  Před 5 měsíci

      @@bronwaynewilliams6851 Did you by any chance test the diodes of the alternator. The one I replaced had the diodes fail. I am still considering of replacing the diode plate and put it back on. A multimeter on the diode settings will tell you if they all work. There are several good videos how to test the diodes without dismantling the whole alternator.
      Try with the plug removed altogether to start it and see if that makes any difference. Might be that the link with the ECU is broken.
