SEPTA trolleys and CSX freight in Darby

Route 11 trolley was delayed due to CSX freight crossing 6th & Main Streets in Darby. I stopped recording because the train had stopped in the middle of the diamond crossing. The trolley tried to beat the train, but was forced to stop and had to reverse. Trolley pole came off the underside of the wire, but it was able to back up before CSX came through

About 60+ years ago they had derail track there for the trolleys . Every time a trolley came up the watchman had to pull a lever to allow the trolley to pass. I remember the trains use to fly through this crossing whether it was a freight or a Blue and White passenger train.

Why did the trolley stop? I'm pretty sure the driver could've still quickly crossed at that point.
And why did the train driver stop before they crossed?

MegaZsolti because he was being extra cautious. What if in the middle of crossing the tracks the trolleys pantograph slipped off the catenary?

CSX needs to eliminate this grade crossing. via a grade separation.
