This is the future of rock and roll even though it's not really rock and roll but these guys rock and/or roll better than a lot of "rock and roll" bands
Here's my dream music festival: - Battles - Animal Collective - Bjork - Fourtet - Prince - Richard D. James - Joni Mitchell - Squarepusher - Flying Lotus - Kendrick Lamar - Phish - Buckethead - Die Antwoord - Primus - Keith Jarrett - Janelle Monae - Deep Forest - Jonas Hellborg - Pat Metheny - Medeski Martin & Wood - Hermeto Pascoal - Esperanza Spalding - Animals as Leaders - Hiatus Kaiyote - Nine Inch Nails - Doom - Bernie Worrell - Andy Narrell - Flecktones As much creativity and diversity as possible, like it was Woodstock. A shame people are not open minded anymore, everybody is inside their little box.
I'm a huge Battles fan and I totally value your opinion. Don't listen to these comments you're not a class A idiot just someone with his own mind. Peace.
Woah. Did you just call John Stanier a poor drummer? Do you have ANY experience with drums? Any KNOWLEDGE of them, even? He's probably one of the best drummer out there right now!
@ButzisAroma In the previous video there is a seamless transition between the two songs. Sure, anything is possible, but knowing how they always flow songs into eachother I dont see why there would be a gap? Also, I am confused as to why he would walk away from a sample that was too fast. The tempos remain the same each night since they are playing to a percussion loop (in My Machines' case) and syncing a vocal sample..? May have been just because Ian was triggering it off time..
Oh wait, you meant that it sucks for the drummer that he's doing most of the work. I'm still not sure I agree. Live, sure, he definitely holds the fort, and some parts oft he songs sound like pure noise. But I think it becomes very evident in their studio recordings that it's all organized, planned noise that fits very well with whatever they're doing.
I had no idea, my humble words could start any kind of arguing... Sorry! The focus idea is: everybody having a good time. Not for hard feelings. Never mind.
Hey guys. Maybe, any kind of misunderstood. I said ¨poor drummer¨ because the man is almost doing all job alone. He plays very well. The bassist seems to be a good musician too. But, the work, the result, the final product, it's boring.
That's sad to hear, considering after looking at your profile you seem to have a good taste in music, lots of prog. Too bad your ears don't enjoy the brilliance of Battles.
Love Numan's sound on this track. They should do more material together.
John Stainier is my favorite drummer of all time
Stephen D stanier
he should reprise the role of The Terminator and be no less successful than Arnold Schwarzenegger. he's fearless.
"Thela Hun Jingeet" for 2011. Absolutely amazing.
5293278363 That's an interesting comparison. They do share a few qualities with one another

I'm an anachronistic fuck, raised on Queen and Zepplin, but this is the greatest thing I've heard in decades
I like how they had Gary Numan still on screen
Anytime I need a pick me up, this song fits the bill. Every time...
john is one of the best drummers
Jealous.
The shirt question. This is insane.
ベースかっこよすぎて

Wait... not even 10 seconds earlier in the live Atlas video, John is wearing his shirt. He is also playing in that 10 second space. HOW?!
I'm a huge Battles fan and I totally value your opinion. Don't listen to these comments you're not a class A idiot just someone with his own mind. Peace.
John Stanier was able to remove his shirt in under 5 seconds...think about that!
I don't get it.... CZcams magic?
Woah. Did you just call John Stanier a poor drummer? Do you have ANY experience with drums? Any KNOWLEDGE of them, even? He's probably one of the best drummer out there right now!

PLEASE GUYS, WHAT EFFECT IS USING DAVE FOR THE BASS????
I think that that bass riff should be the siren signal for Godzilla's approach on major cities...just a notion.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE BATTLES SET FROM THIS FESTIVAL?
Oh man, that drummer uses his cymbals very high
His crash cymbal is really "handy" .cheers!!

@Kelavmeister the magic of youtube? or he cut the shirt?

Eduardo Cortéz Franco stanier

i dont get the point of watching a live band that uses pre recorded music. how do you know what you're watching is live and what isn't?

You must not know anything about drumming/drummers.
GOOD GRACE. POOR DRUMMER. A LOT OF NOISE AND LESS OF MUSIC. I'M BETTER PLAYING GUITAR ALONE. INTERESTING, BUT NOT REALLY GOOD.
