Where did you get the bumper for the 124019?
I sure wish the 'cheaper' companies would put out their signature best rc's as 1/10 TRUE 1/10 rc's. I like how WPL Rc's do it, an RTR, a KIT, and a KM (metal kit) of their models really allows for in-house upgrading, but also lets you pick your preferences from the start. If WLToys had a TRUE 1/10 rc in RTR and Brushless only, it would sell like hot cakes. I know, I'd buy two!!

WL 104001 did 42 day one right out the box
A month later after breaking it in it does 46kph. All day! 100% Stock just packed the front/rear Diffs with grease. Adjusted the tie rods for better tire contact. Runs Great!

Looks like a pretty good car, and as long as you go in with your eyes open, watching honest videos like this, people will have to make their own minds up. I very, very rarely buy anything these days without checking CZcams, etc, to see what I'm actually buying. Yours, and other channels like them, become invaluable in giving people the knowledge they need to make an educated decision.

Cheers buddy and to be honest, I am exactly the same. I buy nothing (rc cars are different for me) without checking at least 3 review videos to find the best ones. Banggood wanted to send me a 3d printer and after 6 months of me doing research and finding the best possible one there were new versions available! My wife finds it frustrating but I like to know I made the right decision. My last mobile I took 11 weeks to buy... While constantly moaning about the one I was using. The wife in the end asked me what my top three was and ordered one. I am happy to say she picked right!!! 😂
But theres one problem with youtube reviews: they often are influenced by the opinion of others, who may had a bad car wich was faulty, so other youtubers dont expect it to be good, so they call it bad because others do it. For example the traxxas E Maxx. Everyone on youtube hate it and say its not durable, strips gears and dont handle as good, just because the first version of the E Maxx was junk. But only a few years later, traxxas made it one of their strongest cars ever, but everyone still have the image of the version 1 in their head, so everytime i watch a video about it, i only see hating videos. But i bought a 15years old one, and now its my favourite car. And same with the x maxx: everyone loves it for no reason...
Well other than the fact it was faulty and bad. And the manufacturer admitted it. But sure let's put it down to being influenced by others. Not like others have a brain of their own you know.....

Hello friend, I love wltoys, but they have problems with scale, this car have chassis from 12401 and it's 1/12 , they made it only wider. Sorry for my english, I'm from Poland and finished school long time ago , but remember little bit of English lessons 😉... Anyway, great video as always, and nice toy, good work.

I really like this truck the more I see it. I know, it’s more like a 1:12 size model, but so is its predecessor the 12428. I agree, would been easier to just badge it a 1/12! Oh well. Guess the diffs on these come either very little to zero diff grease where it’s needed ! Love your videos! Keep up the great content!!! are the differentials in this stronger than the ones in the 124016? They seem to have a better ratio for large tires.

Good morning. Well it was sold around the world as several people I know have one but yes you are right about the shell. It does have oil filled shocks though! 😂😂

Lol at that point I'd rather just drive to the post office and get it myself! Some people have been saying that this is a Traxxas Xmaxx lookalike, but I disagree. The Xmaxx is much bigger, and the insides are very different.
They are two very different cars except for the fact that they're both MTs (Monster Trucks for anyone who doesn't know, and the 104009 is a buggy with a MT body and tires...) and that the 104009's (good grief it's getting hard to remember all these model numbers, I could deal with the previous Wltoys cars but how many are they gonna come out with?!), and they both have similar styling bodies, and that's pretty much it.
I wasn't allowed to pick it up. Tried calling and was first in que for 44 mins and cut off. 12 mins and cut off. 4 emails ignored...
Yeah without doubt different cars. Different sizes. Different everything but most important prices.
Just wanted to add, the 144001/124019/8 do ~50kmh or ~32mph, and the 104001 does ~40kph or ~25mph because it's bigger, and thus heavier, as well as the hearing is more conservative and not so high (better for off-road). The plastic 104009 chassis does confuse me, all of the "serious" Wltoys cars have metal chassis (it's somewhat of a standard now), but now the 104009 has a plastic chassis? I get that plastic is lighter, more flexible, and cheaper so perhaps Wltoys choose it for bashing durability (plastic flexes, metal bends and stays bent), but bending metal chassis with the Wltoys cars isn't an issue (you don't buy them to bash them like an Arrma Kraton or Traxxas Xmaxx).
Hiya. Just did a speed test on the 124018 and it was 59kph bog standard and an old, old model. My 144001's go same speed. 104001 however is ridiculously slow for what it should be doing.
Yeah I don't get wltoys chassis choice on this one. I don't get the going slower either... Usually with evolution things improve, not get worse. Pointing even more to getting rid of old parts. 😂😂

I liked the dirt road bit and the onboard shots but then I guess that you punished the hell out of this car on the rocks . This ain’t no crawler but it came out alive so I guess it’s not that bad as some other channels portray it. Speed wise brushed and it LION stick battery I assume . I think if dropping in a brushless and a 2 or 3 s Lipo this little Maxx look alike is not bad at all for the price point.

Nice a funny., seems like a 124018 small brother , is the pinion-gear different to the 144001 or 124019? I don't understand why having the same 550 motor some are slower, different pinion to get more torque? same at 104001?

Gearing is different from 104001 and the others. They obviously went for torgue as it weighs more but that means less speed. Bad bad but my brushless upgrade has made it into a mini JLB Cheetah! 😊😊😊

Hello. I would say if you have no tarmac that the 104009 would be better as out of the box it is faster. If you think that you may add a brushless system in the future, then the destroyer is the clear winner. I have been thinking about getting this truck as I have a couple of other wltoys cars which are pretty good.
Good morning. I have a video coming out tomorrow on this one with my brushless upgrade and its flipping brilliant. Like a mini JLB Cheetah. 😂😂😂 Saying that all wltoys are great when you get a brushless upgrade so maybe my point here is, there is no bad choice if you are going brushless no matter what. If not then maybe wait until the 124016 & 124017 brushless are released.

Hi Again John,looks like my wl12402-A d7 spawned brother just with wait for it +more good stuff like better control arms,oil shocks,led lights and different shell/body..are the planetary gears metal?.. i think all parts look interchangeable...before i put oil shocks on my 12402-A mark1 "because i got 2 and 3rd one coming soon" lol, it wobbled like jelly hehehehe which was fun but now after the upgrade and filling my shocks with yes olive oil :P it's got great control like this one by the looks of it..man that thing copped some rough terrain for what they are..sure they are no speed record breaker and become unusable with too much power upgrades from what i seen on you tube "my opinion only"..happy rc-ing..
Just so you know, I have tested olive oil and sunflower oil and the olive oil solidifies at 10c. Sunflower oil worked perfectly. 😂 Yeah the 104009 has been a real surprise. After changing to brushless and its new bonkers speed I thought it would not be long until it was damaged. Still nothing. And I thought it handled quite well. Cant remember our speed. Think it was 80kph and mega fun. Amazing car and built of / from the 12404-A! 😊😂
@@JohnRobinsonRC morning John. yes yes now that you mention it your video is the one that got me on to that method and how i found your channel.i think we got sunflower oil here and olive oil..ok thank's for the tip, i'm in Australia so we don't often get 10C in daytime. i will give your tip "sunflower oil" a go though with next one..the 104009 i been eyeing that one for a while "price a bit high" but for now 12402-a "$119 au dollars" and 124019 "$155au ebay" is my latest focus..in late 90/2000s i had 2x tamiya 1/10 and 1/8 nitros 2speed clutch cups was fun speed runs but you know what i found this rare red buggy with a picco motor from 80s and restored it to usable condition and it was my favorite umm point being 12402 shell reminds me of that one and speed is not always where rs-ing needs to go to..sold it all mainly because of the smell and hassle of setting up car, hard to get parts and even fuel as i was regional nsw back then, should have kept that red italian beast..take care john and try to rest when you can as it helps immune system to re-balance and mind focus..

Hello Victor and thanks for the comment. Honestly I think both do their jobs very well. But the 104009 needs more power and I prefer it after a brushless upgrade. The 10428 out of the box is bullet proof and keeps driving, crash after crash! The 104009 has not broken once on me, even at higher speeds though but if you don't want to throw a brushless setup into the 104009,then go for the 10428. Have a great day!

In their defense. Yes, the a959b can go faster and is much much older but it's basically uncontrollable and gets extremely hot very quickly. This new one is larger and has bigger tires which would stress the motor even more I it had longer gearing. So they might have had no choice but to make it slower with shorter gearing just to keep it from killing itself. Either that or they'd have had to use more expensive components that would increase the retail price quite a bit and that would keep people from buying it.
As for the use of plastic, it's still quite small and plastic is more durable on smaller scale because it's springy and won't just get bent or break.
Sorry for the long comment, I just spent the entire video thinking about why they'd do this.
Yes I get your points but can't agree totally I'm afraid. To swap out for a better more suitable and faster motor would cost maybe a couple of usd. A great brushes motor can be bought for 12 usd. They buy in bulk so 4 usd. I think it's more to the point that they have motors laying around or they just don't want it faster. The 124019 goes 60 with the same motor. This is not much heavier. I will weight both tomorrow and come back and update you.
Concerning plastic you have to then ask why the 144001, 124018, 124019 & 104001 all have metal chassis? Unless you have loads in the warehouse from the 12042 project. 😂😂😂
Listen we can discuss all day. You could be right. Maybe me. Maybe neither. We will never know. So I had to base on what the car was like. And I like it. Surely that's the whole point of these cars. 😊😊👍

I think WL toys are caught at a bit of a crossroads at the moment with trying to balance out performance/Value for money which they have always been known for. Almost like the OnePlus mobile phones when they came out initially were Flagship phones for budget price but they weren't able to keep that up for forever so they have now made expensive phones and the cheap ones aren't as good as they once were. The scaling Issues seem really odd though
Yeah I have to agree. Trying to keep to the same business plan that gave you success. But then I would say less is more. Why release this one and struggle to get out the ones people really want like the brushless versions? Strange really. Scaling issue is just weird. 😂😂 Thanks for watching!

Maybe you did. This area is my car destroying area due to the hard rocks dug in. When previous cars have hit they have instantly been broken. Previous videos show this area as a car killer which is why I drive the car here and why I wrote it the way I did. Thanks for the comment and have a good day.
Buggys and road vehicles have different physical shapes wheel distances etc.. You cant compare them.. My 1/8 buggy is the same size of some of my friends 1/10 rally cars that have the fully rally shaping.

Yeah I completely agree. They try on CZcams but after the third complaint their channel is deleted so at least that system works well. Bet you wish you had such a system.

If any of our customers fall for the clone version, they are soon come back because the quality and price is unbeatable. We are the only trading standard registered company with our type of product, they still copy.

Now ya see I have to disagree on some things! But before I do your absolutely right if it puts a smile on your face and it doesn't break then sure buy it! But when I got mine out the box I was so disappointed and underwhelmed with the quality, lack of imagination and missed opportunities wltoys made with this. It's clearly a very old platform, I think they had warehouses full of these n thought, how can we get rid of them? It's too expensive for what you get! It's not value for money, it's cheap and flimsy even the battery is old stock and to ask for almost £100 in my opinion is a bit cheeky. Maybe if it was £65-70 So I wouldn't recommend this purley on what it costs. I'd say buy a 124019 or a 144001 and save yourself some money at the same time. But then you went out and had fun with it so it was worth every penny in that sense. Anyway great video my mate 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hiya and I love it when others disagree. I always want open discussion and for sure I am not always right. Without doubt wltoys are pulling a fast one getting rid of old stock with a shiny new shell on it. Naughty of them and as many have said, it should have been called the 12402 - B. But I don't think there are far off on the price either. £90 for a ready to run rc truggy with oil filled shocks and able to take a beating isnt far off. Maybe £80 would be spot on but I still think its a good buy. But... But... I agree that battery is shocking. 2200mAh should have been the minimum for sure.

So are you saying all full scale cars have the same length wheelbase? Scale is wrong on them all. The buggy goes from 1/14 to 1/12 and only the length of the wheelbase changes (that's not scale) and if you tried to put a correct scale person inside they have no hope of fitting. A 6ft or 183cm person would be 15cm at 1/12 and would only fit laying in the middle of the body. So scale is just a random number. Just like the C rating on batteries or the quoted top speed or the max radio distance the rc industry can't be trusted.
Yes it's all relative. If there isn't a full size version of the car then they can say and state what they want. Even when there is a full size version they still do what they want anyway. 😔
