    Don’t forget to let me know your summer wash tips in the comments. Of course, washing the car either very early in the morning or late at night, and taking advantage of any shade you can get, are the best ideas but I reckoned most people knew those ones already! I don’t know about where you guys are, but it’s absolutely boiling where I am so this weekend’s detailing time was best spent working on the interior and making sure I had some factor 50 on 😂

    All the tips are usefull. I used to foam the car dry, as I beleive it cleans better, but here in Greece you almost always wash in the sun so it dries. Now I first rinse with deionized water.
    I used to do 2 or more wills together, but now I do 1 wheel at a time.
    And washing in sections is really usefull. too.

    Best tip in there Heather was the one about sitting in the sun on the patio with a drink and leaving the car for another day ...... I'm totally onboard with that one! lol :) Another great video, thank you!

    Great ideas. I dilute QD with deionised water when sunny. I agree ONR is awesome. The pop up Gazebo is King for when we do get the few days of Sunshine ☀️ and useful when we get lots of rain. I find fallout remover can be re-activated with another coat if dries too soon.

    Here's me thinking it was only me that spritzed my panels if they seem to be drying too quickly prior to rinsing off. I always knew it wasn't a good idea to use chemicals on a hot car but didn't know why. Thanks to you I now know why. I seem to learn something new every day with detailing. Thanks for the tip.

    Great tips Heather. My drive is in the shade until about 10.30am so I’m always out early in the summer to get it done before the sun has a chance to muck things up. Also, ONR washes are perfect for hot days especially when the car tends to be less dirty as it is in summer.

    I must admit when the sun is out I don't wash the exterior of my car as the water spots annoy me regardless of how careful I am and then the enjoyment dwindles.... I tend to clean the inside in the evenings thereby avoiding this god awful heat and also the reducing light helps me see the smears I've missed on the inside of the screen.

    Just got home after detailing a friend's car ready for trade in tomorrow and even tho I started at 6pm, in this heat I still had to whip round quickly with the wash stage. Got the decon done on the wheels tho as it was in the shade when I started. Could have spent another 2 hours on it tho! Great tips, thanks:)

    some very useful tips in this video! unfortunately where i live the sun is on my drive most of the day (from 9am-ish until 6pm), ive had to resort to doing a panel at a time/a wheel at a time and yes, i have made the mistake of using iron remover only for it to turn white.

  • @stuartday1876
    @stuartday1876 Před 3 lety +1

    When it's hot I do a panel at a time, starting with the roof. Don't like using snow foam at all when it's too hot. Pre wash (surfex HD), jet wash off. Then straight in with a contact wash 1 panel at a time, washing off each panel as I go. I then rinse the car before I dry it, using a drying aid as I towel dry it.

    • @AutoCareHQ
      @AutoCareHQ  Před 3 lety

      That sounds like a good method, what concentration surfex do you use as a prewash? I’ve only ever used it at 10% on really dirty cars when I’m not bothered about LSP but it looks like a cheap option for maintenance as well if it’s still good at lower concentrations

    • @stuartday1876
      @stuartday1876 Před 3 lety

      5% concentration as a pre wash, but obviously I don't let it dwell for as long as I would like. My driveway only gets sun in the afternoon, so try and wash the cars first thing to avoid the blazing sun if I can.

    • @stuartday1876
      @stuartday1876 Před 3 lety +1

      Once had snow foam baked onto the windows by mistake, was a nightmare to get off, ended up claying the windows. Window cleaner on its own wouldn't shift it. That's when I stopped using snow foam when it's hot!

    Great job Heather 👍 Has anyone tried detailing using a large gazebo? I've been considering getting one to try especially as I have no indoor space to machine polish. I don't ever do my car in heat, the car would survive but I'm not sure I would! 😁 If I ever get the dreaded water spots I use Koch Chemie FSE, it's absolutely brilliant stuff Heather

    my best idea was to build a 7x8m roof to work under now I don't need to worry about sun or rain doing much to me, now I worry about the roof because me a 14-year-old build it with dad stepping in to help get the resources I needed (he works in construction but didn't help to plan because he was busy and I thought how hard can it be) spoiler: I did already fix it 2 times yep but still, it helps a lot to have at midday no sun on the car It doesn't 100% block the sun but it's on the point were you can see good but have nice shade will get some lights for it sometimes I need them especially will need them in fall and winter days when it's over 0 degrees and for applying wax or polishing just got the new da tomorrow is THE DAY
