HKIS in in Repulse Bay. Mongkok to work is a long commute for hk. At least 45-50 min all on v clean mtr & v clean buses . Good that it’s light traffic.
I remember a nutritionist in Hong Kong said not to eat too regularly in the dai pai dongs as too much MSG is used and why that would partly explain why Hong Kongers are hyper much of the time😊
@@NomadicTeachers thanks for the quick reply. By diversity I meant, local vs expat kids proportion, economical I meant best school in terms of tution fees and academic performance and by results, i meant academic results of children from these schools
Awesome video, I also wanna go Hong Kong for further education, and be a math teacher in international high school. Is it easy for you to be a teacher there and what should I prepare for that. ^-^
I love to become an international teacher in Hongkong. I’m currently studying Bachelor of Education in Australia. I would love to work in Hong Kong for 2 years. Just a feedback for you, you spun your camera so fast that it made me dizzy when watching. Maybe slow it down a bit will be better.
Hi there I know your video is pretty old by now but I wanted to find out if you have any recommendations for agencies to get over to HK as I am looking to go over there next year?
I’ve got a teaching certificate from a U.S. university. Oftentimes international schools require a minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience, which I had from the states. My fav site is nomadicteachers.com but I’m biased bc I built it haha. My professor in San Francisco knew I wanted a job in the Far East, and she knew the past principal at the school I’m at and she made the connection.
with so many corporate people leaving Hong Kong, do you suppose that will make international schools need to downsize; thus, teachers will be let go in the next few years to come?
That’s an interesting question. I have been told a lot of Westerners have left, altho the truth is I haven’t seen data on it. However, I think in the years to come more Mainlanders will move to HK, and they like international schools too, so it could possible make for even more demand- possibly. Thanks for the thought!
You need an internationally recognized teaching certification. So for example, for American teachers, like Mr. Bohemian, you would likely have completed a teaching certification program through a university. In my case, I went to a university in New Jersey, USA, and needed to complete a four year degree in Music Education, which culminated in a year of student teaching and completion of an exam called the EdTPA to receive my certification to teach music in New Jersey public schools. Every country certifies differently, so you can look into your local system, but basically you would need to the proper certifications to teach in a public school in whatever country you live in. Frankly it's a lot of work, and unlike the english teacher in a cram school path, this is more for people looking to make teaching their long term career.
Hey Fatemeh, great question. I really lucked out last year. I got a class full of really amazing kids. We’ll see how this coming year goes! Haha, cheers
Is it safe teaching in school? Any gun shooting or student bully in your school? Any violence like push people down the subway track, stores gang robbery? From the movies, Hong Kong is a place full of gangs, and kung fu fight on the streets all the time, is that true?
I’m in my 11th month here in HK and we i love the place, pretty awesome

Hong Kong is certainly cleaner than NY city.
Do you find teaching in Hong Kong challenging? I mean are the students challenging? Do you have to deal with spoiled kids?
