  • Bakersfield, CA to Las Vegas, CA - High Speed Driving Video. I have just reposed this video because there was a comping issue with the last version I did. It's been corrected.

Mum and i had a 15 day holiday in 1975. Los Angeles to San Francisco to Yosemite to Bakersfield to Las Vegas to Grand Canyon and back to LA. I would never recognise Las Vegas. All the buildings on the strip seem to be missing (Circus Circus Stardust, Golden Nugget. The Sands Lido, Caesars Palace). I took a photo from the front of the bus. It is the same image of your video at the 1 hour 12 minutes and 10 seconds. The road looks the same. The same telegraph wire poles look the same. This photo of mine is 49 years old.

Hi AussieRob! You are so right! Las Vegas keeps changing. We went there just this past November of 2023 to see Keith Urban at his residency at Planet Hollywood, which was fantastic by the way, and there were so many more eye-popping buildings and lights added in the past few years, I'm sure that it would really surprise you. But I hope that you do get to visit again soon because I'm sure you'll have a great time. There is so much to do in Las Vegas. Thank you for watching the video. -Fred : )

I just too the same route about 2 weeks ago, but from the SFV to Mojave, then Barstow. You should take the back roads from Vegas to Pahrump to Tecopah, Shoshoneh, and Baker. The vistas are breathtaking and you basically skirt Death Valley.

That's a great idea, dobees 818 I need to map that out. There are so many roads in the Mojave. We ended up at a little diner in Trona one Saturday last spring. We just drove for a while and also found the Cottonwood Charcoal Kilns. So much to see out there. Thank you for watching the video. -Fred : )
