I lived in a country where you really felt isolated as a foreigner. I had to take buses most of the time and typically I'd get stares, usually of the unfriendly kind. But this one day i sat next to this young man reading a comic book. He saw me looking as Im a huge fan of them. He smiled and took another one out of his bag for me. We rode like that till my drop off. I gave him back his book and we exchanged a smile. It was one of the kindest gestures I'd ever experienced. This film took me back to that morning.
This is how COVID-19 started in the UK.
Love, Love Love this! it's so beautiful! Left me wanting to know more about the two characters... t's such a relatable experience, to connect with someone momentarily, non-verbally but somewhat ethereally whilst in transit in the midst of this melancholic, isolated environment we exist in sometimes. Those moments give you hope, or at least a reminder that we're not these atomisic creatures; seperate and unaware of our mutual existence and conntectedness- I loved how her imagination expresses this shift in her relation or experience with her surroundings. A really warming, poetically communicated short, congrats on ze nomination!!
That was so cleverly done. When intrusive thoughts and imaginative scenarios become acted out from our minds. It's humorous and relatable. I too love daydreaming elaborate outcomes in the most mundane circumstances like this one, on a bus commute home.
As someone who spent years commuting on London Busses, this cut deep.
everlasting proof of how simple yet compelling a story can be
Instructions unclear, tried holding someones hand on the 2a and unfortunately she ran away screaming,
The ending is poor. It could have been much better with a real twist. Like the man leaves the bus, and then the woman approaches another man, and then another, trying to have a minimal human contact on a very impersonal environment ... while also being a bit creepy
Tuppence Middleton is <3
