Hello, great information.! Have a serious question for you, not trolling.. if i invest my companies business into aws, using these discussed methods. Is there a way to use this setup on a non aws system? Even though very unlikely, what happens if aws goes away for some reason... serious... would any of this system work elsewhere?

I would think that containerization is the way to go if you were worried about porting to another platform (ie. Azure). Services such as Docker are platform independent. You can orchestrate Docker containers in CloudFormation too, so you can still take advantage of that but have some degree of portability.

Thank you. Have a question. You jumped from 100 dev instances to beanstalk. It does brings abstraction but I guess we will have to still create 100 beanstalk from the console if we need 100 dev environments ?

I use Cloudformation to manage all of our resources (SQS/SNS/Lambda/RDS/etc) across isolated dev/staging/prod accounts. Looking into migrating some Heroku apps to AWS, but can't decide on the best way forward - Elastic Beanstalk seems at odds with our pure CFN templates. Is it wise to use EB at all in this scenario? Or just build out individual CFN templates per-app with a shared VPC or something like that? Need a little direction!
