That's right, I was about to write this as I saw your comment. Basically most men are taught o supress our emotions, just like @John-Tore said, hence the symbolism of the scissors, to cut off any emotion that pops up. We DO have emotions, just "taught" to bottle it up to the point of suicide.

AURoRA and SIGRID are childhood friends, U know that? Both hit home, Sigrid's since I teach that, and have done for 15 yrs, morning and mirror exercises to accept and love what you see in the mirror. EXTREMELY important messages in both songs. I like the lyrics and metaphor in AURoRA's The River the most. It's ok to cry, show emotions, be different. Be yourself. I think she wrote that song, mostly to put focus on suicide and why so many men chooses to take their own lives. LoVe your creativity, keep on shining

As far i know it was inspired by suicide rate and that men has higher statistic and it is probably because society does not allow men to cry and express emotions. That is why it is very important to express emotions (no matter woman or men).
