The white, sheet metal model with the movable pickups was incredible for tone variations and the body made perfect sense for a seated player. My only concern would be about the neck feeling right. I’d bet if you could send the guy your neck’s basic measurements, he’d be able to get close enough for comfort.
Very cool video, thanks for posting!
I'm going to think that the sheet metal is going to wear in your leg and the whole thing must be neck heavy.
Maybe a metal plate on a wood body would be more comfort with the same functionality.
I met Rainer Tausch in person and seen and played his guitars at Holy Grail Guitar Show in Berlin. I’m not surprised Rett liked it so much. So great guitars, videos or pictures don’t do them justice and the builder master is one of the coolest guys I know 😁💪👏👏👏
Your channel is becoming more and more interesting! Congrats!
Loved your video in Germany you posted the other day. Great stuff!
Some of the best content I’ve seen, well done for highlighting some amazing makers that would otherwise go unnoticed.
It's nearly impossible to turn this video off. The variety of guitar sounds is just addictive.
What a fun video. I could literally sit here and look at and listen to every single one of the guitars on the tour. Thanks Rhett!!
The Tausch almost certainly comes with Häussel Pickups. You should check them out, because he's like THE German pickup guru. His 1959 (PAFs) are awesome and decently priced, too.
I was just saying the Tausch seemed to be the only great all around instrument. Perfection!
With inflation they are now cheaper than Dimarzio and SD. 120 a piece.
Yes, Rainer uses Haüssels for sure
Häussel... What a name.
In Austria thats slang for toilet.

I was at the Vancouver show and Jamie spent a ton of time talking me through a bunch of their guitars. What a great guy. Super knowledgeable and loves to nerd out on guitar stuff. I played the birdfish (I though it was amazing), all of the archtops (did he show you the crazy green one that doesn't look like an archtop that was made by ozzy's tech, over Jamie's R shoulder at 14:00) the Tausch and one of the baritones (I forget the name of the maker). I was so impressed with all the attention to detail in all of those guitars. Makes you realize just how much some of the big name custom shops are charging for their work in comparison to a totally unique piece.
Love Jamie and the gang. The Showcase comes to the store I work for every year and we always have a great time!
That guitar built in Portugal has incredible sustain! The carbon fiber neck looks crazy wizard type easy to play and low action!
I live in Portugal for the past four years and have never heard of them. That's gonna change today :)
Love these Boutique Guitar Showcase videos!
Excellent work on presenting this material and test models on assumptions of music, instruments and performance/recording!
Man, guitar envy overload! That first one blew my mind with the movable pickups 🤯, That Taush was also WOW, thanks for sharing!
A fantastic episode of yours Rhett. A perfect showcase.
R H E T T : Congrats! It is SO difficult to find and produce unique (and cogent) subject matter, within this very crowded CZcams genre. Great job! Interesting content!
That pearwood f ing sings!
The moving bridge pickups sounds amazing
I've been thinking on how I could come up with a way to do modular pickups. And then I come across this. Super elegant solution to what I was attempting to solve.
10:19 pure joy on his face
Amazed at all the displays and featured guitars. One could spend days of dreaming and playing each one. Design looks and specs change with technology. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome man! So many possibilities!!
So fascinating. Thank you, Rhett.
So many great and innovative designs that also sound amazing!🎸
These same guitars were just in Vancouver for the International Guitar Festival! Got a chance to play a bunch of them. Very cool
That opening groove fit *perfectly* into what I've been noodling on my guitar when opening the video.
They all sounded great and unique, but I'd go with the chambered one. Thanks for sharing Rhett
Saw you up there; what a great show. Jamie and Co were super cool
This is insanity!!! What a treat! Thanks for sharing this one! I'm not sure which one I like the most out of these.... possibly that long-scaler!
The innovative artistry here is super cool to see and hear! Rhett, you ever think you'd add something like one of these to your regular arsenal?
Nice one Rett, I enjoyed that!
3:36 When he slide that thing to the bridge. The treble jumped. That was cool.
Thanks a lot Rhett! Those were some very cool guitars!
Oh man! I saw that LHT guitar sitting there. I played one at a guitar show I was performing at and it was incredible. Couldn’t believe the low end that it had. Beautiful guitars.
Mahalo Rhett! Your visits to Righteous Guitars led me to order my Divided by 13...love that amp!
vallenjo guitar is the Todd Rundgren Guitar from the live concert
such a fun episode! Thanks.
When they were in France, a few years ago I had the chance to play a few of these guitars. The Tausch is still to this day one of the greatest guitars I've played. The one they had the year I saw them felt so balanced and sooo dynamic. I don't know if you have seen a Sankey guitar ? This was my absolute favorite. Beautiful and extremely easy to play, sounded great.
Gothrers, initially I thought Incredible; on 2nd thought, this is VERY credible in the 3rd Milly.
The Tausch seemed to be the only all around great instrument IMO
I’ve seen the Verso guitars on instagram. I’m glad they’re finally out! It looks awesome
The verso guitar with movable pickups is awesome and sounds great!
I got to see the Boutique show at Walt Grace Vintage in Miami a few years back. Cool show with some wild guitars.
Todd Rundgren used to play an ankh guitar that looked very similar.
Very cool; esp. impressed by the Tausch (like many others). I wish you'd posted about this (even a brief teaser clip) back in Aug/early-Sep when you attended it. I'd have loved to have seen the show, but it's already been to the nearby venues (northeast US) in the month since it was at Righteous.
Fantastic coverage of numerous inspired innovators in our Luthiery field thank you again Rhett for doing what you do please continue! I just had to share this to my Luthier schools fb group!! I do wish we could have seen some of the genius creations as Tribute to of one of my Master Instructors of late… Rick Turner though,… Namaste, “Light”
videos like these give me hope the the future. creativity and innovation 👍👍
Wow, what a great show. That long scale Tele style guitar though...super cool. On it are Häussel pickups which are also the standard brand pickups for the Nik Huber Guitars.
Those r the coolest guitars I've ever seen man, thanks for sharing!. Must be humbling to be able to handle those guitars and true works of art. To bad Rick couldn't have been with you man.
Floating pickups from Germany blew my mind. Such a tasty design and so many possibilities of shaping the sound
It’s good Jamie & Roberta are doing so well!
I love hearing you play The Meters!!
This is Great 👍
😎‼️‼️‼️
Thank You Rhett 🔥⚡
That, is a cool guitar, and the Serendipity Factor of the pickups sticking to the body, is super duper duper cool
I had a Parker Delux. Once you get a black fretboard with no fret markers, you won't go back. It lend itself to playing in every key. Really liked the acoustic with the black fretboard.
Damn that’s Verso is nuts
Fresh content, endless sounds. Good to see Portuguese Design in the map. I'm an industrial designer and love guitars
The verso is an amazing concept! I would love to play something like this.
It's literally a baseball bat guitar. Great deconstructed concept 🥰
I like the idea of being able to slide the pickups up and down the body
I love the "tone-aluminum" used for that Veleno
I have the Stevens Extended Cutaway on my Washburn Acoustic. It’s also on the Nuno Bettencourt models. Goes back over 20 years.
Been playing guitar for a long time and the new designs are amazing but in the end if you're playing stairway or Manish boy I think we got it covered already
Picked up your new Course in Pre-Order. Cannot wait to unlock my New Tele I got myself with that Knowledge
I just saw this show a few weeks ago in Big Rapids MI, second time around, and WOW!!!!
That carbon fiber guitar sounds extra. Very, very nice!
Glad to see Verso getting attention.
Amazing guitars!!! That Tausch though!😍
Simply incredible. Not in the market, but if I were...
Tausch made me a guitar around 98 or so. Gifted it to me. Good to know he’s still out there. Great guy.
“Form follows production” ….great episode!
The Veleno has a real buttery tone. Did not expect that.
That sheet metal body makes so much sense!! Love it!👍😎
The magnetic sliding pickups remind me of Pittsburh/Nashville/NYC songwriter Dave Hanner's axe that had a sliding single coil in a set of tracks between the neck and bridge.
That sheet metal is NUCLEAR! Amazing tones from ALL the different builds!
Definately this video destroys all electric guitar tone wood myths
Rhett, Thank you for this vlog!! It was so cool. I loved your tasty licks testing out these axes too. Agree about the Tausch. That thing sounds incredible!!!! I'll probably have to sell my house to afford one though.🙂
The overtones from the acoustic were unbelievable
And the Undertones too... 🤔
@@danielmconnolly7 The Undertones were phenomenal.....wait, were not talking about late 70s Irish punk band are we?
The RRobinson acoustic sounds very good and the Baleno.
I love the headstock of the acoustic.
The Tausch is the best!! Great guitar and grat video!!
Awesome video man!!
So many cool guitars. I want all of them!
that idea is awesome!
That last one, the ankh thing, sounds the best!
The audio recording on these videos is very well done!🏆🥇🔊🎼🎵🎶🎚🎙
Cool stuff!
One thing about the first guitar you didn’t mention is you can get it with individual outputs for the pickups.
For recording this is amazing, record each pickup in their own track n get their own eq.
Live setting having your bridge and neck have their own pedalboards.
Ok that Fully adjustable pick up thing is Cool AF!
Wow! What fun - it's a toyshop! The Verso is cool - moving pick-ups around like that is nuts but eminently practical! The Tele-ish one you had to put down also rather nice . . . thanks for the distraction in the middle of a working week :)
Brett, what i love about the tones you have on the electrics in this vid seem to fit sweetly between Billy Gibbons and Muddy Waters.
I gotta say that Tausch 665, looked and sounded right at home in your hands Rhett. 🤘
Dan Armstrong guitars had moveable pickups fifty years ago.
Yup
I really loved the first home studio build video, and I was wondering if you were coming out with the second any time soon? Hopefully there aren't any major stucks
That chambered Tele-type is da bomb!
framus made a sliding pickup model in the mid sixties and i believe many of the first pickups you could attach to a hollow body was also adjustable
My friend used to have a headless bass made by Westone back in the leight 80s called 'The Rail'. It had one control for volume and to adjust the tone you had to slide the single pick-up up and down the rail to neck/mid/bridge position.
Very cool!
The last guitar you played (the one that begins with a "V" that was silver, futuristic looking) Todd Rundgren had one back in the day. I don't know if it was the same brand but it was on the cover of Guitar Player Magazine probably late '70's. 9 chances out of 10 it was the same brand.
Yes that's correct, His had a different headstock shape but was made by the same guy. There is footage of him using it with utopia on the ra tour on CZcams in Germany, and also some footage oh him using it for a guitar solo standing on top of the pyramid that was on the cover of oops wrong planet. His guitar was destroyed in a warehouse fire I think in the 80s
@@xavesaves9517 Cool! I remember back in the day, Todd designed the guitar and paid John Veleno to build it along with a matching bass that Kasim played on the "RA" tour. Todd would climb the pyramid during a solo and leap off the peak and was lowered by a rope he held onto with his right hand while hammering notes with his left hand. It was Utopias most outrageous stage set with a Sphynx, pyramid, old Egyptian costumes and those unique guitars. I saw him play that guitar in Philly.
...I was going to comment the same, but it seems you guys beat me! I caught the RA tour in the SF south bay before Rundgren and Sultan had the custom guitars.
Your guitar shop vids hands down the best well done to short though
Some really cool guitars! I wouldn't mind one of those sheet metal with movable pickups and one of the carbon fiber models.
The DeArmond monkey stick pickups from the 50s/60s kinda did that. I have one on a '51 Gibson L48 and I move it around all the time. Check it out.
Thanks for this!
I really enjoy different takes on what a guitar is and can be. So much so, that several years ago I purchased a Gittler Titanium, it's become my favorite guitar ever since.
Another more standard guitar is my Backlund Model 400. And I still enjoy my Steinberger L guitars and my pointy guitar bodies such as Jackson Rhoads, Warrior and BC Rich Stealth. They're not just for metal
Still waiting for something new and different, the Verso is interesting, another I'm watching is Sankey Guitars, who does amazing archtop jazz guitars, one of his latest, "Water Tiger" is a take on headless.
Honestly impressed by how it sounds
That last one looked like something you would find in Prince’s bathroom. Rhett is so cool, i love how he put a positive spin on “other than this giant part diggin into my chest it’s pretty cool really “
Really enjoyed this, sorry I missed this show in Chicago. I have played an original Veleno from back in the day. Wild looking but odd.
Hey Rhett
It’s totally unrelated but I wanted to share with you something pretty cool. My wife is supportive but very detached from my guitar journey. I was watching one of your videos ( I honestly can’t remember which one) and she walked by the guitar room and simply said
“ That guy seems to really know his stuff!”
I thought you might like to hear that. I find your stuff right up there with Rick Beato and Eric Haughen. You are all very big parts of my growth musically.
Peace ☮️
Steve
