Taemin always shows us his artistry and we certainly can't complain about his return, it shows that even though we think he is good, he comes back and shows that he is even better. This man is crazy

I believe Taemin and the director for Guilty were largely inspired by Hermann Hesse's 'Demian' and the performance director for his upcoming concert suggested for Taemin to read Georges Baille's 'L'Erotisme'. A lot of duality explored on a razor thin edge.

You can also take 5 minutes to watch my lovingly researched explainer video on Guilty MV - that has been well received by Taemin's true appreciators. Cheers!

Ik taemin and the director got inspo from Damein and L erotisme but its obvious their are many Interpretations to it aswell (since its still pretty vague when Taemin describes it) and i agree with what u said their are many ways and times he's been in a very restricting environment(like in the MV) that always want to control him and put him in a box, the military, music industry, and with himself. This can also go with his struggle with looking androgynous at a very young age and being constantly told he's the pretty boy, teased and treated weirdly by older men. But when he got more manly he was ONLY manly, he would say it himself when he was younger, that he would like to be seen and perceived that way(like Minho), it wasn't until around Move he was fine with both and didn't see it in a bad light and embraced it. To me its connected with the bording school awsell because its a mix of boys and girls that looks androgynous and him looking at them with such a sad expression, but it can be Interpreted to the military, school(he HATED school😂, in an interview he mentioned he hated it since kindergartenand wluld skip class because he didnt like how controlling it was) and a lot of other things. Ur thoughts?

maybe I am biased but the song grew on me on the first seconds and thats the only thing I've been listening the past 24 hours. I always feel overwhelmed with anything done by taemin but THIS made me cry and keeps making me cry each time i listen. violin brings this melancholic, dramatic, horror-kinda vibe to any song made with it and this song specifically has such an eerie-dramatic-cinematic vibe i just cant comprehend exactly what it is that i feel when I'm listening to it. i feel my whole body being ripped apart, when he started whispering i literally started CRYING like a motherfucker and i didn't even knew why i was crying lmfao i was just so speechless/overwhelmed/shocked with what i was witnessing that my body found in tears its way of expressing what i felt. it's... it's taemin. he always reaches a level that only he himself can do, he overpassed kpop/pop and any genre long time ago, I would say that even with criminal he set a new genre and new standard for himself to be made by only himself, its a song you can almost TOUCH, idk, I can FEEL it ALL OVER THE PLACE but not in a bad way it's just... i can feel it, literally feel it, you can SEE his soul in his work. unmatched god of music, pure artistry, a new genre of art and GOD how blessed I feel to live in a world where i can witness Taemin doing his art.

as a dancer now, talking about the choreo, the heavy contemporary choreo brings this intense feeling of being controlled, of not being the one in charge of its own movements, like something holding him up and that matches so SO well with the lyrics, indeed so unique and palpable. overall what I got from the choreo/mv/lyrics was this intense urge of setting itself free from a past/a feeling that's controlling/dominating and not at all healthy, the choice of colors and outfits for the mv brings this sensation altogether and it all was done so beautifully, so well layered and stitched together. i wish I could express better what are my thoughts after this but to me it is an overflowing mix of feelings. all good, but overflowing.

Responding to what you said "i didn't even knew why i was crying lmfao i was just so speechless/overwhelmed/shocked". It's okay to react like that, you're not alone. I witnessed so many reactors' mix of awe and shock I decided to make a GUILTY explainer video that has thus far gotten positive responses from true Taemin fans. Check it out on your own time!

    This is my interpretation:
The storyline could be about resistance and liberation of self. That can be in terms of gender identity, self expression, challenging oppressive systems and ideologies, reflecting on old versions of yourself etc.
From the transitioning of colors (cool, cold colors in the first half to warm and fiery colors at the end), the change in fashion (the plain tank and shorts with high ankle socks and sneakers, wearing what looked like the “boarding school” outfit, to the more expressive outfits of the maxi denim skirt and the feathered crown), and much more that I cannot type in one comment, we can see his journey with the idea of liberating himself.
A lot of other people have mentioned themes of loss of innocence, the video being inspired by a book he read by a philosopher, his military service experience etc.
I love the storyline direction he went with - him and his team and collaborators NAILED IT.

Finally FINALLY I'm not only one who see the young Taemin in that person in the memory's scenes in the beginning. The full concept is not about sexual love or passion or blue about anyone but about Love, Hate, Harassment, Pain and Souls fight that make you grow up and fall down at the same one fcking moment in your life.

Tae in claiming artistic freedom and actually freedom in general has been his motivation for all of his songs. I think especially after jonghyun's death he has been setting this as his goal. Advice was like a beakon before his enlistment and now this.... He is definetely making history

Yes, we did watch the teasers and I agree there is so much more we could have done to tie all of those in. I think there is definitely a commentary here on the struggles of growing up in a controlling environment and trying to break out of it, but not being able to fully escape the mental toll.
