your a natural as a teacher! As for this machine, my first of such, not terribly thrilled with it, dont like how the shim and plate sit willy nilly on top of the heating mat, and then to transfer to sizzix big shot is a very possible way to get burnt as well, most everyones videos are like 2 to 3 years old and im just getting this machine, surprised they havent made any improvements, and they should have also added that special eraser to erase over foiling. Im not sure about this thing, but thanks for you video. 4/2/24

Thank you so much for your detailed video of this. Thank you for explaining that when going through the Big Shot it has barely any pressure as it's going through. I had picked up the Glimmer just before Christmas and my Big Shot is relatively new as well, only about 1 year, so when I wasn't feeling the pressure, I was assuming it wasn't getting contact, so I was adding paper shims to get that pressure, thinking it wouldn't work, which was giving me a lot of overfoiling. I can't wait to try again with this new information!

The color of the machine makes a difference to me to!
For your information the Gemini foil press is only meant to work with Gemini cutting machine. If used in another cutting machine then warranty would be void. In addition the Gemini foil press is not large enough to go through Bigshot or Spellbinder cutting machine. I have the Gopress and quite happy with it. So you know you can also foil embossing folders by using only one side of the folder. Finally you can use it cold as a letter press with ink. Thank you for your video.

I am new to card making..I started off with watercolour painting, then painted some cards for Christmas. I watched your video on the big shot and my husband treated me to one for Christmas. Could you do a little video on the basic tools etc you would need....there is such a vast array its hard to know what you need or what is best.

It looks fun and I enjoy all kinds of crafting, but this does seem pretty time-consuming. I think those sentiment sets are a good value, especially in the block capital font because it won’t go out of style. I’d make my sentiment strips together & ahead of time as well.
Yes, it’s a little time consuming, but if you make a ton of sentiment strips in one go that will last you for months.

So glad I came across this tutorial. I did make the jump and purchased the Glimmer system. Yay! I do have another question since you represent Sizzix. Not related to the glimmer system. I wanted to purchase the metal shim plate. I like the detail work/impression to show up in my card cuts. Instead of using one or two sheets of card stock for pressure I want to use the metal plate. Do you recommend?, and/or is there a tutorial for using the metal shim in a variety of ways. Your help appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks Sabrina, the blending brushes you can see here are Taylored Expressions (as is the holder). Quite a few companies have them now though, so you have a lot of choice and I'd recommend looking at Simon Says Stamp, Studio Light and Lisa Horton as they also have nice brushes.
Hey Sharon! Do you know it this would work with Stampin ups cut n emboss machine? I want it so bad but don’t want to invest in a different embossing machine!
I really enjoyed the video but how do you keep the foil from shifting? I'm new at this and have been practicing but can't seem to get a good transfer, it either doesn't leave a good image or there is to much over foil. I've been following the instructions, can you please help me? I have the big shot & the vagabond2 which I love both. HELP ME with the foil please. Thank you.

Yes - you would just die cut it in the usual way if you wanted it in strips.
Will this work the same with the Big Shot Express do you know?
Yes- all the Big Shot machines have the same depth to the mouth (as the plates are basically the same). So yes you can use with the Express as that’s exactly the same as the standard Big Shot.
I just purchased this and joined the plate club, but I find that my platform is very hard to disengage from the docking station, yours seems to just slide out. I'm wondering if I have a defective machine.
I think mine was a bit stiffer when I got it, and it's got easier with use.
Does this work with the big shot foldaway
Yes, all Sizzix machines (except the little Sidekick), have the same depth plates so you can use it in the standard Big Shot, the foldaway, the Express and the Switch.

I'm using the standard size Big Shot. You can use the Plus too.
Hi Sharon will it work in the new Sizzix switch machine? I had to get an automatic die cutter for medical reasons but want a foiling system.
Yes it works with all the Sizzix machines except the sidekick.

Could you use it with a vagabond?
yes, the Vagabond is the same as the Big Shot or Switch in terms of the depth of the opening, so yes it would work the same.
