  • Hey Dronrs! Got a review episode of Dronr today, brought to you by @RemotePilot101. I was able to get my hands on the difficult to find Skydio 2, with some help from Kelly at @readysetdrone, and I gotta say, this is a fun little drone!

    What about when you are out with your family, vacation or just spending some time outdoors.
    Pulling out a drone to capture beautiful footage, it always sounds like a great idea....but in practice, it ends up less about family time and mostly daddy playing with his toys while everyone either watches on the sidelines waiting around patiently or they sit on the sidelines impatiently. So it's more than inconvenient to get some awesome footage on family those outings.
    It seems skydio would be a much better solution when out with the family hiking, kayaking, camping. etc. This is certainly a big deal but also there are many other situations I can think of where the skydio seems just the drone. So it's not just for those who don't want to learn to fly or become a competent pilot. The sky-dio is the limit!

    I enjoyed your take on this bird. Definitely valued. Having the Air 2 is already a lot for me to grow into. I laughed that this posted a few minutes ago, but your dates mentioned for the conference was earlier this month. Thanks for your time and channel tho. Been of insight

    Finally someone noticed that this drone destroys insects. I noticed that bigtime. DJI drones kill insects, but not like the Skydio! Thanks for the review, I got my Skydio a month ago.

    I respect your opinion, but your selling this quad short. With the remote and the obstacle avoidance you can set up some mind blowing shots. Even if you an experienced drone pilot.

    I have had this Drone since May and I love it. I also have a DJI Phantom 4 and there is no overlap with abilities. I agree, the controller sucks. I am at the point where you cannot get answers for some situations so you have to just experiment with it. I disagree that it cannot be used commercially. I am using it to promote a sport. I give the beacon to the person I am tracking and then hold onto the controller. Great review. btw, I have one soft crash with only a broken propeller but I am still nervous that I could damage or destroy it with a crash.

    Nice video man. It's by far the best action sports drone, nothing else is close. It also has close quarters autonomous features like 3D mapping that no other drone can do.

    The package as you show it is not $1000.
    You’re closer to $1500-$1700 as the controller, beacon(magic wand) and extra batteries are sold separately. $999 and a minimum 6month wait will get you the (1)Drone, (1)case, (1) battery, (2) spare props, (1)charging cord and (1)wall plug. My wait with Covid slow down was almost 10mos.
    Side note, I love this drone. It was worth the wait and I’m not mad at the cost considering Skydio’s revolutionary tech.

    I'm new to flying drones. I just bought the mavic air 2 and absolutely love the footage this drone provides. But I live on the water and really want a drone to follow me and my friends on my jet ski's. The skydio seems like the clear choice for action footage. I pre-ordered the sports package. I am currently in batch 5 so I won't have a real experience to add to your review but the Skydio definitely seemed to track you well. Thank you for taking the time to give me this information.

    I bought the Skydio because of the beacon and using it when doing my cycling trips. You can’t do that with the Mavic Air or Pro without lugging the controller with you or your distance is limited , and it’s not practical to have the controller on a road bike

    I am looking forward to this drone for the sole purpose of letting the drone follow me through the trees when out for a ride.

    I like the idea for what I do but how would you tell it where to land on a boat or can you hand catch it?

    • @MikeMillerDrones
      @MikeMillerDrones Před 3 lety +1

      You can hand catch it, but not on a moving boat. It is actually programed to land on the logo on the case

    You can most certainly use an ipad with the Sky2, as I do.

    Sorry but the price of that kit you showed is closer to$1500. The controller and beacon are extra.

    Isn't Skydio the only major sUA manufacturer based in US?

    • @MikeMillerDrones
      @MikeMillerDrones Před 3 lety +1

      In no way are they a major player. That's like saying Dave's burgers is a major fast food chain. But yes they are USA based and are growing fast.

    • @Gringo_Lingo
      @Gringo_Lingo Před 3 lety

      @@MikeMillerDrones I'd love to use American-made, but DJI is just so darn reliable.

    • @MikeMillerDrones
      @MikeMillerDrones Před 3 lety

      @@Gringo_Lingo I agree, I have 3 DJi drones. The Skydio is a specialty drone that doesn't require piloting. I like to pilot my drones, so I canceled my preorder of the skydio.

    • @TheVickersDoorter
      @TheVickersDoorter Před 3 lety

      @@MikeMillerDrones I have the Mavic 2 Pro and the Skydio 2. They both do similar things, but each excels at different things (the M2P has a superior camera for one). I do pilot my Skydio 2 for property shoots, with the biggest advantage that it will simply not hit anything unless you put it into situation that inevitably sets it up to fail. i.e wires, very thin branches, low light, or areas of highly-reflective water - all of which are specifically highlighed in the manual as things to avoid. The Skydio's Cable Cam is a brilliant but unsung feature, albeit with just to points at present. I'm finding that I'm using the Skydio 2 now for more coventional drone work vs my M2P. Also, try low-level front-tracking a vehicle or cycle at 30+mph on rugged terrain whilst flying backwards, with the M2P - absolutely zero chance.

    • @MikeMillerDrones
      @MikeMillerDrones Před 3 lety

      @@TheVickersDoorter I have flown and am very familiar with the Skydio 2. In fact I got to fly a prototype before they were released. When it comes to tracking that cycle in reverse over terrain, it can't be beat. But for true cinematic video, it can't compare to the MP2 or the EP2. The S2 has a particular set of skills and is limited by those skills. If it is the only drone you brought with you for the property shoot, then it will clumsily get the job done, but you know you will grab the MP2 if you have it with you.
