    This is the first time I've seen a video get close to deconstructing some of the patterns that Anomalie uses.
    I attended his masterclass, but unfortunately he didn't explain some of his more signature stuff (glasper-type minor or major movements). He talked about rapid chord changes, fast inversions, reharms with static melody notes.
    But this is something new! Thanks - looking forward to more

    • @NoahKellman
      @NoahKellman  Před 5 lety

      Hey Parker, sorry for the slow reply, I've been super busy! Basically, we're just doing a little substitution here-- we replace the II chord (normally Fmin7) with III-sus (Gsus), then we also make the V chord a V-sus (Bb7 becomes Bbsus). Since we keep the V chord, it still leads nicely into I (Eb-Major). Make sense?

      @@NoahKellman the V chord must have tritone is not it? Could it be explained in some way why it works without that tension in this case? Greetings from Chile, very good video, thanks!

    • @aemeill
      @aemeill Před 5 lety

      mauro ... The V chord or any other chord doesn’t really have to have anything for it to be used effectively ... there are no rules... it’s pretty much whatever sounds good to you ... experiment with different chords/progressions and stick to whatever sounds best to you ... but also remember that every music genre has a certain sound... hip hop or neo soul don’t use or hardly ever use that V 7chord with a Tritone ... it’s just what makes them sound the way they do.. just like you can’t have the blues using a bunch of major sevens... it would create a different sound that’s not suitable for that genre ... I’m not Noah and he probably has a better explanation... 🤷🏾‍♂️🎹🎼

      @lagarto7jazz11 Před 5 lety

      @@aemeill thanks friend, you are right with what you say, in fact I think so but I just wanted to understand why in this musical style the tritone is not used, if it has an explanation, but I think that as you say is only a stylistic resource ... Thank you

      That exercise is giving you a different option for reharmonizing a II-V-I. It works because the first sus chord, replacing the ii, is technically still the minor ii chord being played over the other note (D-min7 / G creates a Gsus). Then we simply make the V a Vsus (Bbsus) and this leads us to the I.
