But hardly anyone can open 8th gate even if they desperately want to in exchange for their life. That's the point. You can only do it with intense hard work and unwavering determination like Guy. He didn't just get it like a gift from someone out of no where. He EARNED it. It's his power. HIS "ACTUAL LIFE ACHIEVEMENT".
That's why they make the purpose of "protecting something precious enough to give your life for", a jutsu that requires pure hardwork and overpower, better than being unable to fight when a momment like that is needed
