Your bird is beautiful! Here in Australia where I live, wild Rainbow Lorikeets are everywhere around my suburb. I am wanting to buy a hand-reared one in the future. Thanks for this video! :) All the best from Australia and also, I'm sorry about the loss of your bird - the look on your face when you talked about it said everything you couldn't say :( I'm so sorry for your loss - I hope he randomly comes back one day. Never lose hope mate. Take care and I look forward to more videos from you. Craig

What if the bird is frightened. How do i transition a young rescue into my home. She was rescued with a broken wing and went to rehab, Now i have her. She stays in a dark corner of her cage. For a couple of minutes here and there, I've sat by her cage talking to her. She no longer screeches, and once a day, i now put my hand with a piece of apple in her cage, there are some much shorter screeches, i then leave the apple and take my hand out of the cage and walk away.
Can you give me some tips, please? It's only been five days, so I've only interacted with her for about 50 mins in total. She is in a social part of the home, which doesn't seem to bother her

Put the cage around your sitting area so that she understand that she is not alone. Slowly introduce her new things. Dip your finger in honey and let her lick once (just once) when you meet her every morning. She will slowly trust you as feeding source. keep 1 feet of distance and talk and again offer her to lick honey just once before you wrap up the conversation. make sure she has access to sunlight for sometime. a big cage to spread her wings and legs. make sure she has access to liquid Nectar all the time. Offer fresh vegetables and apple alternate days. also offer a bowl of water so that she can take bath.
