Something I've always wondered about North Korea is aren't there internal secret cells made up of normal people who silently yearn for the fall of the Kim regime? I know it's very difficult to do because there are cameras everywhere at least in the capital, but in my opinion there must be something.
"normal" is just defined by what is the most average/common within your society. So it is normal for them to support Kim, which probably means there aren't that many people opposing him. And those who do probably get declared mentally challenged and get put to sleep, that's a much cheaper choice which they have to make because there's not much food to go around.
I suppose there is, since Kim Jong-Nam was actually the one who suppose to succeed Kim Jong-Il, and there were still some faction who wants Kim Jong-Nam to take power. Hence why he was assassinated in Malaysia back then.
i'm sure there are somewhere, but they are deprived almost entirely of any ability to organise or safely discuss things. it would be very difficult to even find out who else shares your yearning for the end of the regime. you can't go and ask anonymously on the internet. so because there is no way to organise effectively, any opposition groups will never achieve much
most rebellions happen in democratic states or states that are unstable and it benefits one powerful group to incite popular rebellion, people generally don't rebel unless someone in a high position gives it the ok, people are generally docile without a leader to direct their energies.
