- We were one of the few lucky foreigners allowed to travel to Tibet during ongoing Chinese covid restrictions in summer 2022. During this truly special time, we met extraordinary warm-hearted Tibetans who gave us insights into their culture and life in the Tibetan highlands.
We began our tour in Lhasa at 3600 meters above sea level and spent the first few days exploring the city and nearby Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery and Potala Palace (the winter palace of the Dalai Lama).
For more details on Lhasa old town, check out our old town walking tour here: 👉👉👉 • Lhasa Old Town Walking...
Afterwards, we set off for Mt. Everest with our Tibetan guide. On our way we passed Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. We took a meditative walk (called Kora) around the monastery and enjoyed the view on little Potala. Continuing our journey, we crossed several mountain passes and discovered Lake Yamdrok and Lake Namtso (4441 m and 4718 m above NN), two holy lakes of Tibet. Finally, we reached the tourist Everest base camp at 5200 m, where we spent a night and enjoyed a beautiful view on the summit during sunrise.
This travel was accomplished without any additional use of oxygen. 😁
I love Tibet. It's probably one of the most beautiful places i've visited in China. Really love the culture there. Also really surprised at how modern and amazing Lhasa is as a city.
Thank you so much 😊😊😊😊

Tibetan Chinese are Chinese.they own China .welcome back .no problems.
you can apply for tourist visa like this couple🤓
Hi Lucas... I have a question about any permissions necessery to go Tibet. I live in China four years, have work visa. I would like to travel alone. I dont like be attached to any guide. Just backpack and bus traveling. Is it possible?
local tour guide is required for foreigner when travelling between cities in Tibet, however you can roam around independently within the cities.
Amazing video. Can you drive your own car to the Mount Everest base camp instead of with a tour?
You can drive a big portion of the way (at least Chinese could) until you need to take the public electric buses for the last hour :)
@@lucasann thank you! I just saw that if you drive an electric car you can drive to there. I just noticed that past the camp with black tents the road to the bottom of the Everest seems to be controled/closed
This seems a private tour. It must cost a fortune.
Free Tibet ❤

你也可以理解为草干。因为牛只吃草。所以一点也不脏,是草原上传统的燃料。😂
..Good to see you dressed modestly in your short shorts and skin tight leggings....
Free Tibet. Long live The Dalai Lama. We love you. From India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
India is a part of Tibet.free India
Tibet is free, see it with your own eyes instead of believing what others were saying, please don't forget to witness the blooming economy in Tibet 🤑
@@muawannabe4104 yes. I can see the blooming economy. I can also see the rich culture being strangulated. I can also see native tibetan rights being snatched away. I can see the healthy environment being polluted. I can see the natural resources being emptied and being thieved. I can also see people like you being indoctrinated
It has been freed from that medieval theocratic serfdom under Dala Lama
@@firefly4784 that you think. Not we, and the whole world. But we are lucky to have the Dalai Lama in our country, the great India. We want him here and we will fight for Him. Long live The Dalai Lama.
Free Tibet
lol! Who asked you indian paid stooge 😂
" India is still American slave and Ghulam country "- Russian Foreign Minister.....Dalai Lama is American CIA agent so China invaded Tibet to save China and Tibet both... CIA wanted to destroy Chinese economy as well as Tibetan economy and autonomous status so China merged Tibet to save Himalayan regions...
..You can compare Kashmir and Tibet now...Tibet is 50 times more developed than Kashmir and Tibetan people are totally free..
tibet is free
@@user-zz2qx6wv1d china absolutely destroyed Tibet and murdered over one million of its people, and destroyed over 6000 temples
