      Because they were labeled alternative when that still meant "weird and risky". Whereas it should have been interpreted as "new life for your festering industry".

      @kyachdistent1301 Před 4 lety +1

      Him FINALLY getting into a proper band is madness! To think he wasted his life as part of that dopey stupid embarrassing outdated ska/reggae mash-up outfit even worse than UB4O and the rather silly Specials! Don't even have one good song. Then, for once, a decent American act came along, and he joined in it, beating the shit out of his original in just the opening 5 seconds of the first song on their debut album, never mind all that followed! And their real masterpiece came in 1995-"Sex And Misery".

      Bubble gum it is NOT! They're fun AND serious rock, not effing Bananarama, Wham! Spamhead Ballet, Minogue or slagdonna the bitch! You're right in that the albums underrated, but even more so is their follow-up "Honey Lingers", but worst of all is their masterpiece, 1995's "Sex And Misery", which their label completely disregarded them over. Take The Bangles... add a touch of The B-52... mix in a pop sensibility crafted across two generations distilled into two remarkably talented sisters, add workhorse rhythm section culled from the finest UK musicians of the 1980s.... then sadly subtract motivated record label and consistent label support, and you get the Voice of the Beehive. A joyful noise of a career cut short. But at least we can enjoy them in an archive like this.

Their local music programs featured so many good bands out of Atlanta and Athens . REM, the B'-52s, the Face of Concern, the Basics, the Brains, the Roys et. al. all had time on WRAS local show. I still have cassettes I recorded off air of these bands and more. Sometimes I get these tapes out and fire them up. I used to hear this song, beat of love and i say nothing, on kroq a lot back in 88-91. I still have a bunch of those tapes. They'd play i'm an adult now by pursuit of happiness, then morrisey-every day is like sunday, then vanishing point by new order and then into beat of love with maybe something like headhunter by front 242 after that. These were pretty much the best days for music imo, even better then the early 80s. I'd say the mid 80s and late 80s were pretty much the pinnacle of music. It's been downhill since 92 onwards.

    This song was released twice as a single, once before 'Don't call me baby' and once again afterwards. This, I think, is the 2nd version. The earlier version has some different lyrics but doesn't sound as good.

    Saw them twice at the Orgy at the Underworld in Camden - mind you, I was selling the pennicillen. I'm sure one of them - the short brunette - came up to me before the gig in the club and asked for directions.

    Trying to find this song on one your many channels lead singer has black hair looks kind of gothic and the song is from the early 90s like from one of these rare bands. Thought this might be it

    @LCRV1 If you can find it, get their first album "Let it Bee". It is vastly superior to their 1991 follow up. An absolute classic.
