- Vince Coleman inducted into the Cardinals Hall of Fame: "St. Louis, there are three things in my life that will never change: My Social Security number, my birth date and being a St. Louis Cardinals fan."
The 80's were awesome in St. Louis!
Good for Vince. He was a joy to watch.
I love Vince so much. And when he broke down taking about Ozzie. Man...
What a awesome speech
Willie McGee! Awesome too! Damn.
Vince, you made Cardinal baseball so much fun.
Ozzie, Willie and Vince, the heroes of my childhood.
You bet!
My favorite as a kid..great speech :)
I'm a Mets fan but I have a lot of admiration and respect for the Cardinals. Such a classy organization
Great speech.
100 steals 3 years. No one has ever done it each year
What a great speech! I'm getting emotional over here. Vince is a true legend.
I remember when Vince signed a minor league deal with the Cardinals before the 1998 season but he wasn't called up to the club. It would've been fun to see him back in St. Louis with Willie McGee.
I don't remember that, but I do remember, slightly, Edmonds signing back on in 2011 and retiring not long after Spring began. I was sad but that season turned out well. So did 1998, actually.
Congrats Vince Coleman to be cardinal hall of famer
Speed don’t slump !
The 1985 and 2004 Cardinal teams are my all-time favorites
Same here! 1996 is also on my mt. Rushmore
Had Vince remained with the Cardinals he would have likely shattered every stolen base record in the books. He instead chose free agency and signed with the Mets who had little use for him in their power-laden lineup.
Cardinals knew that they had Gilkey and Lankford knocking on the door that's why they didn't give him a fair offer.
Whitey Herzog! Damn. Awesome!!!
Seriously emotional! I was a teenager when, in 1983-84 (even at the beginning of '85) Vince was ripping the bases in Louisville (where I grew up). He stole over 100 bases in 135 games in 1984. What? Then 110 as a rookie in about 140 games at St Louis. A walk or single was effectively a triple. He made pitchers work 10x harder than anyone other than maybe Rickey Hendersen. He was so disruptive, at the AAA level and of course at the Majors. Just watched a video where a Cincinnati pitcher threw to 1st base 17 times trying to pick him off, only to have him steal 2nd anyway. Unreal. He was, for about 5 or 6 years, the best base stealer ever. We've not seen anyone like him since. Well, maybe Rickey.
Put Vince in the Hall of Fame. Not just the Cardinal one.His SB's were incredible to watch!.And if the excuse is that he was a one trick pony with the SB's..The same can be said about Mariano Rivera. And he got 100% of the Vote on Saves alone!.And then put Maury Wills in too!
No OFF days for excellence!
Greatest base stealer ever. Imagine what could’ve been
Vince don't throw fireworks to the crowd again
You were the best Vince. I wish you had stole Keith back from the Mets.
Kinda was a rascal...but what a player...speeeeeeeeeed!
