First eruption in 100 years New Zealands Mount Tongariro Volcano awakens/Erupts without Warning

- (Aug 7, 2012) Ash from New Zealand's Mount Tongariro covers houses and farmland as New Zealands volcano has been dormant for more than a century has spewed boulders and spread an ash cloud over the center of the country, disrupting air traffic but causing no other damage or injuries. A volcano quiet for more than a century erupted in a New Zealand national park, spreading thick ash for several miles and causing some residents to evacuate their homes. Some domestic flights were canceled Tuesday. Mount Tongariro spewed ash and rocks for about 30 minutes late Monday night after a few weeks of increased seismic activity. It didn't cause any injuries or damage in the sparsely populated central North Island region. He said residents in the area have told GNS of hearing several loud explosions, lightning and plumes of smoke and police have been told by an onlooker that "a new hole in the side of the mountain" had formed. They have also reported bright red rocks flying out of the mountain. The eruption reportedly happened at the Te Mari Craters, which are close to the Ketetahi Hot Springs on the northern side of the mountain. Civil Defence says the volcanic activity could pose a threat to the Waikato, Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Manawatu-Wanganui, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki regions. A warning was also issued at 1.45am to people in these affected areas saying residents should stay indoors since volcanic ash is a health hazard. @ lake. Yes it is an absolutely natural event, and when do you consider the fact that increasing amounts of natural events of this "particular type" may NOT be a random event all? Occam's Razor... I there really any randomness to the effects of gravity? I'd consider the trend and prepare... Just a suggestion.

You should be kind to new believers, not call them devils and evil and satan. Remember what Jesus said to the Pharisees about them turning new believers into worse then them. Your doing the same. Your the reason that many new believers turn to new age, and false doctrines. You make them feel like shit, unworthy, you intimidate them with your i don't swear and read the bible all the time. Keep it up. Your doing a great job. Those who know more, should be helping new believers, not accusing them.
Hiked all over the Tongariro and Ruapehu peaks back in the early 70s when I was in the NZ Army based at Waiouru. Fabulous scenery and so unique.
Aww, I stayed at the Ketatahi hut when I did the Tongariro Northern Circuit, loved the whole NZ experience!

Last time I've been there on a road trip in 2015, you could still see deep layers of ash along the roads, must have been massive. The funny thing is, there are several prisons in that area... You can still see smoke rising now after 4 years.
And, it would be nice to see some documentary about the villages where the Italian workers lived that built the thermal power plants in this area. It was a massive project.
