  • Ruth Mae Campbell passed away November 6, 2020. It is not a good time to have large gatherings so I made a video in celebration of her life. I know I didn't capture everything that made up my mother. I hope I did enough to honour her. She deserves a celebration. For those of you who loved her and will miss her, perhaps this video will help you to say good-bye. It is about an hour long. You can pause, fast forward, rewind, and rewatch. Share it with anyone you think would like to view it.

A wonderful tribute to your beloved mother. I am from the UK and my family moved to Nova Scotia in the late 1960's, I consider it my home. We lived on the south shore, my father was a doctor, we moved to Halifax when my mother became ill. I then moved to the Annapolis Valley with my husband and 3 small children. One of my neighbours taught me to quilt, she was in her 80s and I have kept on quilting since 36 years!
I hope you are well and happy.

Jeanne, this is such a privilege to watch and listen to. A beautiful tribute to your Mom, but it is also a gift to have heard these rich and interesting, and sometimes funny stories about a century of love, family and community. You are indeed blessed. Thank you.

Well done Jeanne. A very moving and fitting tribute to a wonderful mom, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. You met the challenge posed by COVID-19 and produced a lasting celebration that all can share in. It's different than an in person gathering. But the thoughts and memories are what matter and these are constant and true. Ruth had told us all that she was ready to go, so we can accept her passing with peace and calm. I found Holly's singing to be especially moving and was proud that Linda honored both Ruth and our mother Thelma by responding with a poem that would make Thelma proud. Thanks for giving us all the opportunity to contribute in our respective ways to this final celebration of Ruth's life. Take care yourself now. Cousin Bob

Thank you Bob. This seemed the best way to honour her. I was pleased that you, your sisters, and others added to my thoughts and memories. It made for a fuller, richer memory of Mum. I was especially happy to receive the little video clip of her 101st birthday from Trina Joudry (Activities Director at Ivey's Terrace). It made the ending more poignant than it would have been otherwise.

That was such a beautiful video you made of Great Aunt Ruth. We enjoyed every story and picture. She was such a kind and talented lady, I wish I knew her more when I was younger, but thankful I had the chance to visit with her as an adult and have my own girls meet her. Her smile and warmth will always be remembered. I still have a card she sent me a few years ago, and have it tucked into the side frame of my bedroom mirror. xo-Rebecca, Adam, Anna, and Kate & "Blue" Johnson (I couldn't leave out my cat, Blue-She would ask about him any time I would visit :)

Mum would be pleased that you included Blue. She noticed him when he was included in pictures that you sent. I am glad you enjoyed the video.
