  • A couple ditched their high-flying jobs to live on a narrowboat with their one-year-old - before buying another and running a cafe from it.
Joanna and Victor Gould, both 34, left their corporate jobs in favour of ''living life on their own terms'' and travelling the country in their humble narrowboat.
The couple - who met in April 2015 - were working as freelance TV editors in London racking up 80-hour weeks, but swapped their corporate jobs to for a slower pace of life on the water.

Love the optimism that exudes from this lovely couple - regardless of the problem they both tackle it with a smile. William has proven to be an extremely wonderful addition. Selfishly I hope they stay in our lives forever. Well done Jo, Vic and William 👏👏👏💙💕

This is not posted on their channel, so the comments may be slow coming in. I only just discovered this article myself today and I am a Patreon subscriber to the Holly channel!

I've followed their life and journey for well over a year now and can quite safely say they are the most wonderful family you could follow on CZcams. Their life and journey laid bare is a pleasure to watch as are the editing skills in the Vlogs themselves.

This is a wonderful couple. They make their own videos with creativity, charm and wit and somehow remain down to Earth.
Their videos are like potato chips (crisps). You can't watch just one. I've seen them all and look forward to more.

Having lived with a narrow boat for 7 years.
I can agree with all the worried aspects of this lifestyle.
You are restricted, constrained by limitations.
Adaptive functions are realised to cope with the lifestyle.
Let's assume that you did something bad that chucked you in prison. You would be confined to a space 8ft X 6ft with three other criminals for the whole of your sentence.
    Narrowboat life is similar
Whilst you can change location you cannot alter the space you have.
The 12v power supplies from batteries is not up to the job so you need other sources of supplies such as solar, generator, alternator.
Engine alternator only works if you cruising for much of 8 hours a day.
Then there is corrosion which is always happening for various reasons.
Despite all these reasons for not Narrowboating we are hoping to go back since we miss the canals so much and constantly watch other vloggers who are out cruising.

Some things in life are absolute. Boys- if you live on a narrowboat, a farm or a cottage in the country, the boy will be all about the animals. The cows, the geese, the sheep and the chickens. He will wake with the rooster and go to bed with the chickens. He will follow the vet and the farmer around to the animals. If you live in a posh flat in the city, he will be all about the sirens. The police car, the fire truck, the amboolance (the u will come but he will have to go through a year of making noises to figure out the u at the back of his tongue) and the crane. The country boy and the city boy will be all about the crane but the country boy’s crane will have legs and the city boy’s legs will have wheels. Do they care where they live? No, but anytime you leave it, they will be glad when they get back. Their world revolves around them, with mom and dad with them in their cocoon. Grands and friends are a step out of the center circle. So be where YOU are happy! As long as you stay in his personal space and there are windows to watch the world? He’s good for a couple of years. Remember, on the plane, you have to put your own mask on first and THEN you can mask the child. So that YOU stay well for the child. Do you know this already? Of course, but sometimes you aren’t sure if you are doing the right thing. Did you ask? Did the video look or sound like you had questions? No. It never does. Why this comment, now? It’s all I have at the moment. Maybe another time I can tell you how to down a pint of tequila in one breath without it coming up and the absolute best spot for a Doobie Brothers or Grand Funk Railroad or some other concert. I am old, thinking about babies so even the concerts are ones I saw when we girls started marrying and having the most beautiful and smartest babies ever seen. Living in a boat or a house or a flat. Having millions or thousands or two nickels won’t matter in 20 years. Your memory banks start purging and storing away the trivial and you will have to stop and think to pull those details up. So do what makes you happy! Because that’s what it takes to make a baby happy. And as he grows, show him the magic that caused you to fall in love with your choice. Then he will love it too!
