    I just purchased my 280z, she comes home tomorrow. I’m turning 18 in two weeks so to buy this car is a really big thing for me! I live in Montana so the thing about storage Applies to me as well, but I’ve just been watching a ton of stuff on the car and I’m super excited. Hopefully that parts site will come in handy!

    5 things I hate about my 280z...... I've owned it 10 years and still never driven it..... its takes every cent I make.... rust, lots and lots of rust!...... big bumpers of course........ and last but not least being the epitome of every man 😂😂

  • @joelstatosky1817
    @joelstatosky1817 Před 3 lety +15

    Personally the main thing is rust. Things break but the simplicity about the car makes it pretty fun to fix things. I would recommend while taking a test drive doing all your daily activities, then you can know if you really do want it. If you get a car with no rust it's a really good beginner project car (to be fair most classics are). If you watched the entire video you would see that most of the things are not major and he clearly has much more love for the car than anything else

  • @AirgunChannel

    Porches don't have cup holders either. Your supposed to be driving a car like that. No drinks allowed. Take your Honda to McDonalds. ...I'm being serious, that is why they don't put them it.

  • @davidcruz8667
    @davidcruz8667 Před rokem +1

    Oh for Christ sakes, nobody was looking for cup holders in the seventies unless you were shopping for an RV, we simply bought an aftermarket tray that went over the transmission hump or something that was stuck into the door window channel. It had to have an ashtray, though. You're thinking like some young kid born in the eighties.
    And the speed limit back then was 555 miles per hour. These cars were plenty fast for normal everyday use back then. They can also be easily souped up.

  • @chaseincats
    @chaseincats Před 4 lety +16

    nick - mine is stock and I feel it is pretty damn fast (not even relatively speaking). I'd check for a vacuum leak with the hand pump/cigarette method - did you give that a shot?

    • @NewDimensionMotorsports

    • @chaseincats
      @chaseincats Před 4 lety

      New Dimension Motorsports sounds good. No lie once I found my 2 leaks the car wouldn’t even run because the PO cranked the idle screw to the max. For the record the main leak was the distributor’s vacuum advance bladder. If yours is still connected, blow through the vacuum hose and listen for a hiss. If you hear one, pull that line and cap it at the intake manifold. But srsly try the cigarette pump method - you’ll find all the leaks in less than 5 min.

    Z cars have always been the "it's better to drive a slow car fast, compared to a fast car slow." I just SMH at the Datsun method of shock replacements. If you want to do coilovers, better know how to weld. I have a 280ZX, so at least the rears are easy to replace. But the fronts are the cut and weld nonsense. It's why I decided to go with koni adjustable shocks and eibach springs. Should be here tomorrow. I just didn't want to cut up an original car that's rust free and has been garaged it's whole life.

    • @oWatson

      @@oWatson correct. They are also way more expensive. Pay to play though. I ended up going with eibach springs and koni adjustable shocks. Not as good as a true coilover, but works within the factory strut casings.
