      Google my name with the phrase "THE SAVVY SHOPPER" -- then in the search box enter the name of the gemstone you want to learn more about -- as a start until Bonnie can get to a video. I'm only a journalist, not an expert like Bonnie, but I do my homework before writing anything.

      I love Tanzanite and my engagement ring is a tanzy in a diamond halo setting. If you want to know more about tanzanite by a good source, look up Moregems on youtube or just type in Tanzanite loose stones and he will come up. They have a jewelry store in IN USA and he is a master gem cutter that goes to Tanzania and brings back rough that he cuts it himself. Gorgeous loose stones and pre-set stones. He is a good source if you want to learn by someone that specializes in this gorgeous gem.

    Ruby is my husband's birthstone and it's my favorite gemstone!! I bought a ruby ring on Etsy with rose gold for my 26th birthday and I love it! It's absolutely beautiful. Rose gold is my favorite type of gold because it's beautiful and it looks good with my skin. My other favorite types of gemstones are emerald,opal,of course ruby,blue saphire,and aquamarine. All of them are so beautiful to me!!

    • @atheacabanban3664
      @atheacabanban3664 Před 2 lety +1

      Sapphires are the same structure as a ruby. A pink sapphire is essentially a "pink" ruby

    It's pretty but the ruby has more of a garnet (raspberry purple) look to it and is not pigeon blood in color or saturation. My fav gemstone is Tanzanite and Rubies. Always loved them much more than diamonds. My engagement ring is a 2 ct center velvety violet and royal blue tanzanite with blue as the dominate color but you still see a lot of the violet in certain lighting in a one carat diamond halo setting - Love it and I get so many compliments! I have a gorgeous pigeon blood ruby Cross necklace that I have had for more than 20 years and get compliments till this day. I bought my mother a ruby and diamond ring for Christmas back in 1988 which cost me a bundle but she deserved it and she treasured it until she passed away and left it to my daughter who now treasures it because it was her grandmom's ring and it's so beautiful. There is a reason why Rubies are known as the king of all gems, but is must be a true pigeon blood color.

    Gorgeous ring. Have you ever made a ring in black gold? Its so hard to find "womens" rings in black gold but easy to find men's rings

    Diamonds are everywhere, rubies aren’t. That Ruby is pulling too much purple, but then again it is hard to find a great Ruby unless you pretty much take it off an antique ring.

    • @usfanlovesminho5085
      @usfanlovesminho5085 Před rokem

      I agree with you about the purple in this stone and it is not a pigeon blood ruby. But they are out there, however, it will cost you plenty. A high quality ruby is rare and very expensive. Burma rubies being my favorite. What people need to watch for are the ones that are infused with liquid glass which is common to see in neighborhood and chain jewelry stores. You basically have to go to a high end luxury store to get a great quality ruby these days.
