Any habits I didn't mention? Please share in the comments.
I’m Christian and I believe is faithfully living my faith in my daily life. I am so glad that you did not only mention Bible but also said or your holy text which I assume includes our brothers and sisters who are not Christians. One reason younger generation is turning away from religion is the fact that they see us Christians or other organized religion not practice what they preach. I’m glad I came across your channel. New sub here.
Dave: Please keep the videos coming...I get something out of every one that I watch.
Will do, Bob!
I'm glad you incorporated your faith and relationship with God. Don't shirk back from this! It is so important and key to surviving and flourishing through trials that will inevitably come in retirement. Thank you for this video!
Absolutely!
I completely agree with you. Always be strong in your faith and unafraid to share it.
Agreed!!!
Dave has the best financial commentary on the internet. Bravo Zulu.
I am 73, and not religious. But I volunteer at a local hospital. I see so many sad cases and stories. I always try to help, but I can only do what I can .
At the end of every shift I am so thankful for my health and strength. Never take it for granted.
Thank you!
Faith in the Lord, Family, and Health are my top 3 priorities. Thank you for the video.
You’re very welcome!
There is no shortage of smart investment advisors. And specific to Retirement, the number of smart Retirement Planners who focus on more than simply investing might be far fewer… but you can still find plenty of them on CZcams. However, far fewer Retirement Planners deal with the “softer” issues that make retirement more fulfilling. Thank you Dave, for doing this. And for stepping out to acknowledge we can be happier when we believe in something bigger than ourselves, whatever that spiritual thing looks like to us.
Thank you very much!
Well said.
Wonderful anecdote about your daughter and the incident on the playground. A perfect illustration of your point about the importance of not holding grudges and offering forgiveness. Very few retirement planners offer this kind of wholistic advice. Bravo, Dave!
Thanks for saying that. At first I was unsure of of sharing the personal story but I’m glad you found it fitting.
Thanks for including including hugely important element of the spiritual/faith during retirement! Aging in an uncertain world can cause anxiety and the best way to minimize that is to remember to Whom you belong.
You give these life enriching lessons of life to us free of charge as we approach the vulnerable stage of life. Very grateful am I. Thank you.
My pleasure!
I retired last year, the day I turned 60, and we were a single income household for the last 30+ years. My brother retried when he turned 55, single with no kids, so he was able to quote his COJ a little earlier than me. It can be done, just live within your means. We both won the game.
Dave, you are an excellent host for this show and you present it so well with the right tone for the subject matter too. Thank you for the information.
Wow, thank you!
According to statistics, we are "wealthy".
Every point you made in the financial segment was spot on.
Relationships can be tricky, but you are correct that we need to reach out and cultivate relationships. That doesn't mean you should spend a lot of time on people who really don't want a relationship. Know when to move on. Ultimately, a person who wants to spend time with you will make the time.
Mental health is so often overlooked. By that I mean that we should always strive to learn new things. I'm relearning Spanish and am working on rebuilding a tractor. I'm 61, am not mechanically inclined, and have not used Spanish since college.
We travel a lot, and we hike as much as we can when we travel. I played baseball and football in college, but I really have no interest in playing a competitive sport. Lots of people want me to join the "old folks" softball leagues, but it really doesn't interest me.
Lifting 50# bags is something I do every day. I think they weigh 75# now😂
We are Christians, and virtually all of our giving is through our church because we feel that mission is helping our local community more than any of the national charities. My wife is a crazy cat lady, so she volunteers and donates to animal rescue organizations.
Excellent content here!
Thank you for sharing!
Forgiveness is severely undervalued, but severely needed by all and one of our most valuable assets.
Agreed!
Grew up in the South Suburbs. My Father-in-law and both Brother-in laws worked in the Mills.
I think it's also important to set the order of importance.
1. Spiritual wealth (if you believe in a higher power)
2. Physical wealth
3. Relationship wealth
4. Financial wealth
A great video overall. I'm glad I watched it.
The next part of this review is my own personal feeling about some of the other things you stated that many people may not agree with.
I am very grateful that you have the courage to talk about God and Faith in your video. I wish more people would do that. There is a decline of faith in the world and especially in America. To me wealth without faith in a higher source is just being greedy to see how much you can get for yourself. One of the reasons I feel we are here on earth as stewards is to see what we will do with the 'talents' that have been given to us. As I see it, God created this earth and everything on it. He has granted me some ability to do some work that I am rewarded for. Therefore, everything I have or can do comes from Him. I am just a steward. He grants me every beat of my heart. He grants me every breath that I take. If I would serve him all the days of my life, I would still be considered an unprofitable servant (Luke 17:10, Mosiah 2:21 [BofM]).
Thank you for your time and value you do in generating these videos.
Thank you for sharing!
All very valid. Thanks for your videos! Faith in action is how I hope to spend my time in retirement.
Wonderful!
To answer the question, yes I really appreciate the wisdom shared in these videos, especially the non financial aspects which resonate with me. Great work. Y
Thank you !
Dave, absolutely love that you mentioned the Spiritual and God. You are a positive person and a strong Believer.
Thank you!
Very sweet story about your 8-year old and the conversation you two had about dealing w/a bully by praying for the bully. Instilling our morals and values into our children is our obligation as parents , this was a great life lesson for her❤
Great video. Thanks for acknowledging that great wealth is not all about money. Giving thanks to God in hearts, mind, and spirit has spirit transformed not just my finances but my entire life. It truly is in giving that we receive. So thanks again for giving this information, and please continue to do so. Blessings.
Well said! Thank you.
Think he hits them all and what I strive for. I align pretty well with Dave’s comments. Would add …getting up early every morning. Carpe Diem.
Thank you!
OUTSTANDING !!! ... it is june 28, and this is probably the best video I have watched all month ... THANK YOU !!!
Wow! Thank you very much!
Brilliant! Well researched, makes me want to get most of these in place before I retire. I see many retirees who have empty lives.
Thank you !
Great video, keep making these type of videos. As a just recently retired person I find them very helpful. I like you cover things outside the financial side very well.
Thank you. Will do!
Well done. Thank you for sharing your heart and your faith. God will “bless the work of your hands” as you honor Him. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much!
You covered everything so well in this video. I really like what you shared. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Loved this.
I've watched many of your videos, but you really touched on some key points with this one. And, while I may not have a lot of money, I consider myself a rich man. Thanks for sharing, and being such a blessing to others. Your words are powerful and they speak the truth.
Thank you, Jeff.
Excellent talk! Much appreciated!
My pleasure!
Thx Dave this was my favorite video ever produced by you. Appreciate all of the information you covered!
Tony from Toledo
Thanks,Tony! It was great getting to know you earlier this year!
Love your balance!
All your videos have been good but this was one of the best. Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
This was thoughtful and well done. Really appreciate the idea of categories of wealth that go beyond just money. My wife and I had a great conversation after listening to this. We are learning that part of the challenge of retirement is a change in mindset as we go from accumulating to planning & spending. So for us , we really resonate on the notion of thankfulness as a key habit that keeps us grounded.
Thank you so much!
Really appreciate your videos. Thank you
Great advice for anyone for anytime. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
Thank you for the good hearted advice. Definitely opened my mind.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you.
Excellent video! Thank you.
You are welcome!
Comprehensive and thorough advices for retiree. Retiree my self, I focus on those that are more important and efficient on outcome. The rest are in planning stages.
Thank you.
Well put. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Always great videos! Love the balance.
Thanks so much!
Great video!
Thank you!
Truly appreciate your outlooks and advice, thanks
My pleasure!
Would really welcome some time to review retirement finances in the near future
You are so awesome God bless you brother
Thank you kindly.
All good points to a life well lived.
Yes!
Thanks for great video. I'm close to retirement and probably spend more time on the money side, than on the "softer" side. Good reminder.
Glad it was helpful!
I appreciate you adding the spiritual section as well. The Bible can guide us today and the gift of prayer can release a lot of worry and concern that can definitely age of us.
Share hope with those around you especially children. BTW your Mandela quote was originally from the Buddha.
Thank you. I didn’t know that!
You sound like a good parent.
Thanks for saying that!
Thank you, David. I am a Lutheran pastor and college professor. I have learned a lot from you. Lead on!
Thank you!
I recommend CZcams channel by Brandon Robbins details about the Bible.
It is a game changer for me.
Great video as I enter retirement.
I am grateful for what I have and that I can assist others.
