It’s true! I visited Hungary 🇭🇺 for one evening last year… and I crossed from Serbia 🇷🇸… I had to stop ✋ at not 1 but 2 customs 🛃 booths to get in to the country… amazing. I am SO happy they are this way. Excellence.
I live in Hungary. And all ya'll praising Hungary in the comments, just stop. Sure the country had a few bright moments, like the way the migrant crisis is handled, the resistance to the EU coercion, the slight increase in birthrate due to pro family policies.
But other than that keep in mind this is a typical european country, with excessive taxes, big government, and even Orban would be considered a centrist in the US.
If Hungary was serious about freedom, then after the USSR collapsed, we would've instantly passed American style 2nd and 4th Amendments, to make sure people actually have freedom. But we didn't. We're still sitting ducks. We're still just part of the european herd of sheep.
In fact, the only reason the country had a moment of brightness in the past few years is cause Trump and Orban were in power at the same time. If the 2016 election went differently, imagine Hungary would've had a very hard time facing sanctions from both the EU AND the US. Also keep in mind the 2nd largest political party in the country is still the soshialists.
If immigrating to the US wasn't next to impossible, I would've left europe a long time ago. Don't let this moment of brightness fool you, europe doesn't have a positive future, the US does.
You have no clue about Hungary . So called "sovereign nationalism" its not motivated by the love of the country. Hungarians are not native to Europe. They came from Asia (God knows from where ) and they are animated by a demented Asian gene with this weird obsession with land . In the 50's a group of Hungarians fled to France and they lived in a village in peace...for a while. After some time they stuck a Hungarian flag on the city hall and declared the French village Hungarian. Get it? Only the simple thought that some random migrants can occupies their land gives them creeps . That's why they act like "sovereign nation" .
As a Czech person I have great respect and admiration for Hungarians and their opposition to extreme liberalism. 👍

However, our leadership is the same cesspool as any of yours! Hungary is also a corporation, we are also slaves- human resources. There is hardly anything Hungarian going on in that place. Everything is owned by multiple corporations. The government has a serious mind controll programming over the people, using media, cult-ure, finance etc. I could vomit just to think of our politicians, they are rooted there for several decades, and nothing can blow them out of their. Anyone is better than Biden! However Orban isn’t as good of a leader as they want you to believe. There are many problems in Hungary, very high inflation, high prices, low wages, the healthcare is on the verge of collapse. The government is very corrupt. Orban supports the WHO pandemic treaty, the digital currency, cheap foreign workers and pride parades.
It wasn’t Orban who wanted to put up a border fence, it was Laszlo Toroczkai from the Our Homeland Party (MHM).
The Covid dictatorship under Orban was very bad. He mandated 3 Covid shots for all police, army, teachers and healthcare workers. Sadly I have many friends who suffered as a result of the mandatory shots.
Hopefully at the next election MHM will win, not Orban’s Fidesz.

As for their forefathers, I would dare to say that the migration of people's to what is now called Europe can be traced to the cradle of humanity and definitely to Persia.
So for the claim that Hungary was invaded and the locals being heavily influenced by the Mongols is not much of an argument. Most of the Europeans are guilty of that! Just the way it goes with mass migration and warfare.
PS, after the Czech Revolution, the Soviets had a choice to make, initially it was to get stricter, then they changed their tactic and actually tried to make life a little easier for their occupied lands/people. A little bit of decentralization came into play.

Having worked in Budapest I can confirm that Hungary is a beautiful country with a rich history. Hungarians suffered through so many years of totalitarian regimes, it should be obvious why they don’t want to deal with that BS anymore. I am so proud to be Hungarian. I was born to Hungarian parents in the USA and was finally able to establish my claim to Hungarian citizenship. I would love to move to Hungary where most of my family lives. I am worried for Hungary. Such a small country. Beautiful and with its two plains, is very fertile. It is the center of Europe and of my heart, but surrounded by wolves.

Oh yeah. Crime is super low in Hungary. Drugs are also much less of a problem. Still exists, but I wish all Americans could live in Hungary for a month or so to experience what it is like when their country and cities are not ran by treasonous cannibals.

They did now, unfortunately.... there's a reason why EU closed article 7 procedings against Poland . Poland lined up with EU leaders supporting sending millitary aid, possibly troops... talks are on about taking French nuclear weapons... doesn't look like they are getting closer to peace talks. It looks like Poland lost it ... and pushing towards the 3rd world war with the rest of the EU and . Now, with the Slovakian PM being shot, Hungary stands alone. Really, we need a miracle in June EU parliamentary elections...pray the US 😢

I am an American living in the US and I for one do NOT hate Hungary I love Victor Orban and his country and his policies He is a true patriot who loves his country and goes to great length to protect it while here in America the Democratic party hates everything the US and its Constitution stands for and would love to see America fall and are doing everything in their power to accomplish that. We need a leader like Viktor Orban or even Trump back as President or else this once great country of ours is no more.

Hungary is not very christian. Sure, there are traditions and people wear a cross without knowing what it is about or ever being in a temple, but most people, especially youth fall into either the nonreligious or these "christian, I guess" groups.
Romania has the highest adherence of religious believers in Europe so they have that going for them. Poland unfortunately is becoming the most rapidly secularizing countries in Europe and embracing almost anything western (mostly headed by Gen z obviously). PiS isn't exactly an exemplar of morality or Catholic faith which has really hurt conservatism in Poland so there's a chance Poland could be the new Ireland in....maybe 20 to 30 years if trends continue

Russia has much more in common with Hungary than the US. Russia and Hungary are Christian Conservative Countries.
Culturally and religion-wise not really, Russia’s Eastern Orthodox, a church of Byzantine heritage while Hungary is Catholic and the conversion was a political move and so was sticking to Catholicism, a statement of affiliation to the Vatican. Historically they are rather rivals. Russia’s affinity is with the Serbs rather.

Anyone is better than Biden! However Orban isn’t as good of a leader as they want you to believe. There are many problems in Hungary, very high inflation, high prices, low wages, the healthcare is on the verge of collapse. The government is very corrupt. Orban supports the WHO pandemic treaty, the digital currency, cheap foreign workers and pride parades.
It wasn’t Orban who wanted to put up a border fence, it was Laszlo Toroczkai from the Our Homeland Party (MHM).
The Covid dictatorship under Orban was very bad. He mandated 3 Covid shots for all police, army, teachers and healthcare workers. Sadly I have many friends who suffered as a result of the mandatory shots.
Hopefully at the next election MHM will win, not Orban’s Fidesz.

Traveled there in 2019. Beautiful, welcoming, culturally enriching - they know what they do not want ever again. Sovereignty, just laws, controlled immigration, vetted immigrants, respect for history, and intelligent growth. Smart moves. Hope the USA will get it's act together.
