We have already done a review on this HBX Devastator. It’s a 1/24 scale mini rock crawler. It was already very capable but with a couple of set backs. First one being the tires. We address that issue in this video and do a full comparison between the stock tires and a set of new, slightly larger tires with a different rubber compound. - Zábava

Finally someone who tested it with the scramblers :) got the scrambler wheels from Kevin Talbot.

I tested mine with scramblers. It reduced the steering too much. 4WS is like dig in that it's nice to have when you need it but most of the time it's not. The links on these things are the worse design I have ever seen. They are pretty much in line with the wheels and too close to them and still hit the motor. The steering servo wire acts like a limiting strap mounted on the worse location possible. It's the only rc car I own that I let my 1 year old grandson play with because I have no use for it.
It certainly has its limitations, fun for us atleast 👍

Great video !! I put some videos up with my Devistator. Couple runs on my indoor course. Word of warring! If you get an scx24? Be careful not to do what I did. I tried to get the scx to do what the hbx will, with mods. $350 later. I still like driving the hbx more. For such little trucks, they are a ton of fun!! Little heavier aluminum wheels, and a single wheel weight on the front servo, will change the center of gravity. Makes a huge difference.
Ya after researching between those two, the hbx seemed much better. I do like the c10 body though! May get one for the hbx soon. What wheels did you go with?
@@DerbyCityRC I bought some cheap AEI wheels from Amazon. Less than $20. I bought a weighted set,but that put to much strain on the motor. They are on the SCX24. I like the c10 as well. My wife got one and wanted a square body. I got a model and put one on it. I might use the c10 body for a belly dragger build. I put a Deadbolt body on the Devistator. Looks great. I have RC4WD mudslingers on mine. I like the scamblers. They are on one of my Scx24s. I have a bunch of pictures on my Instagram.
That’s awesome! I wish my wife was more into it. She wants to be, I think, but has 4 kids to deal with all day 🤣
@@DerbyCityRC I have been dragging my wife along for the ride. She likes the scale part of it, and I like building models. I let her tell me what she wants. Then try and make it for her.

Got the same tires with my devastator. Grip is way better than the stock tires. I also mod the wheels with four 10 ounce lead weights per wheel.

Did the weights help with inclines mainly?
@@DerbyCityRC yes it helps it from tipping over. And i also have weights on the front servo.

Hi I would like to ask if you ever encountered an issue with the driving shaft? I read lots of reviews saying its almost certain to break
I’ve had no issues with it at all. We don’t use it a whole lot, but just had it out about two weeks ago and it was flawless.

@@DerbyCityRC I found something very similar in Ali Express. Have ordered couple of sets : 60 and 63 mm outer DIA, the description says : supers soft and grippy. We'll see when they come . Cheers.

I don’t believe so. Crawlers aren’t made to be fast, but sure could use a tiny boost for sure. Nothing out there that I know of
