thank you! i've been looking for somethign like this. Ok important question: have you guys ever heard of the iphone glitching and just dumping the passcode? like you had it yesterday but today it's just open...bc glitch? and what;s causing that and how do you fix it?
like the whole screen is gone. as if you had not set up a passcode/lockscreen at all. just wide open phone. i tried to get this answered at the genuis bar but no one knew
Hi Josh - Firstly, I love your channel and all of the great tips and advise you provide. I just followed along to your iPhone changes and inadvertently locked myself out of my phone doing the SIM PIN. It took a trip to my provider for a new SIM card to regain access. Apparently, the SIM card comes with a default four-digit code that you have to enter BEFORE you change (set) the SIM PIN. My phone provider didn't know that either and simply did a Google search for the default SIM PIN code and there it was. "1234." Yes, that's actually the default code. All the more reason to follow your suggestion to lock down your SIM. I was then able to set an 8-digit PIN. I hope this helps other viewers. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
I’m so pleased you mentioned about keeping children safe on devices. It horrifies me the potential harm a phone etc can do and how many parents shrug this off. Thank you.
!!!WARNING!!! When Josh at 2:32 talks about "Add a SIM PIN" the information is not complete. Your iPhone will most likely ask you what your default or old sim pin is, which sometimes but not always is 1111 or 1234 or 0000. If you get it wrong three times you will be LOCKED out of your phone until you get a PUK code from your cell phone service provider unless you already have it. Very disappointed at this gross over site.
Thank you for the advices! I’ve been an iPhone user for so long but I have never thought of some cool security features such as securing your iPhone Lock Screen or limiting Photo GPS location data!
I always just use keychain for a password manager. It lets you create unique secure passwords. And it requires no additional setup for your other apple devices
Such a small and nice channel love your vibes and you’re really good and professional at this. Keep it up, much love from Greece , you just earned a sub 🙏

I just watched this video. It was very informative. I have a few questions: 1. Apple told me that I don't need a virus checker on IOS and that a virus checker will slow down my phone and IPad. Is that true? 2. Since the video is two years old do you still recommend Trend Micro for IOS? 3. In addition to having a few IOS devices, I have a Windows 10 (I am considering upgrading to Windows 11) laptop. I am using a paid version of AVAST on my Windows device. Would I be better off switching to Trend Micro on Windows? 4. I am using 1Password as my password manager. Am I correct that I am better off staying with 1Password then using Trend Micro's password manager? Thanks
It’s better than not using any password manager at all! Seriously, though - it’s good, but there are drawbacks, such as not easily being able to get passwords for this places where you can’t use the auto fill (such as a smartTV). For me, though, I prefer to spread my security across different companies so that no one company (Apple) has the keys to all of my life.
Great video, thank you. I mostly do this tips, but I using Android. Maybe in the future can you do a video for that. I would really appreciate. And thank you for recommend this company I'll check them.
Again, thank you as I was unaware every photo sent location info that could be accessed. Also, certain feature I thought needed location that don’t are now off. 😊
This has some really good stuff in it. Whenever you make security tighter, you need to consider how to recover if you lock yourself out. If you use a password manager, think carefully about the time when you want to move to a different password manager and how easy and secure that process will be. Are you going to run the same password manger on different devices? Will it sync? How fast?
Hi Josh I’m also living in Thailand! Around 6 months ago I’ve had my iPhone screen replaced and it doesn’t support Face ID which compromises my security in a number of ways. I plan on getting a new phone maybe when the next model comes out but until then what could I do to overcome this and provide the necessary security?
Hey there fellow Thailand expat! 😎 In the short term, the best thing I guess you can do is have a good passcode for the device and require that passcode for everything instead of Face ID.
I had my iPhone stolen over 10 years ago in college when I was working out at the gym. The first thing he did when he snatched my phone was either turn it off or put it in airplane mode.
Hi Josh, I have 2 questions for you: a) Do you have a video where you help explain how to navigate an Apple Device (phone or iPad) seeming to require downloading the Yubico App? I tried this over the weekend, and ended up having to go the route of a one time code, as the yubikey wasn't being fully accepted by both my iPhone and iPad. When I tried to install the Yubico App, it began to feel like a rabbit hole, so I thought I'd ask your if you already covered this in a video, or if you could share any helpful tips. b) Could you please turn on the Spanish subtitle settings for this video? Thanks for your help.
Setting up the SIM Pin caused me to be locked out of my phone . I cannot make phone calls anymore because T-Mobile has already set up the pin and so when I try to put in a pin , it locked me out so now I have to call my carrier With somebody else’s phone and wait for customer service to answer the phone so I can get this pin to unlock my phone . please warn your other watchers about this
@@AllThingsSecured Nope. Happened to me yesterday with AT&T. Had to go to store and get new SIM card as apparently AT&T no longer uses the PUK (Personal Unlock Key) to get existing SIM card working again if you lock it. IMO this whole SIM card locking approach isn't really a good recommendation for security improvement. Seems to be too many chances for error with attempting to do so, even if it's a user driven mistake (I have to think I did something incorrectly, but I'm really not sure).
Clicked, Liked. The only thing I have on my iPhone is the PIN CODE nothing else and I use for different sites or crypto exchanges the Google Authenticator. After watching your video I have decided to uninstall it and probably use something else. I have one question, if a website doesn't support Microsoft Auth or Authy can you use another authenticator or you have to stick with the one supported by the websites? Thank you
Is the Trend Micro Family product as limited as most other products running on iOS? When I compare the capabilities of similar products compatible with iOS they are not much more helpful than what Apple provides. The best one I’ve found so far is Bark. Thanks.
Hi Eric - I just tried that too and did lock myself out. It took a trip to my provider for a new SIM card to regain access. If you're on iPhone the SIM card comes with a preset four-digit code that you have to enter BEFORE you change the SIM PIN. (Not sure if this applies to Android). The provider simply did a Google search for SIM PIN code and there it was. 1234. All the more reason to follow Josh's suggestion to lock down your SIM PIN. Cheers!
Is there a way to disable an iPhone's power button when it is locked? This is to prevent a thief from switching the device off, so that Find My iPhone is active.
The location settings on those apps have helped proved convicted people innocent and have helped prove people guilty by proving there location at that time

Trend Micro is preventative. Cero is prescriptive (meaning it helps if you’ve already been infected).
