Expensive but really worth it when I see my improvements. Doing zoom lessons during COVID but should get back to in person soon. Wish you would play at Disney World in Florida.

    But I studied classical music for over 20 years and want to learn more improvisation without the ‘repeated’ technique that reading chords in the music book dictates. How can I undue that technique to transition into improvisation? Do I have to remaster the major / minor scales and transition and learn the so call ‘circle of fifths’?

    • @Crunkboy415
      @Crunkboy415 Před 3 lety +1

      Not really. The old blues guys really only knew a few major/minor pentatonic scales, some licks and passing notes, probably never learned circle of fifths or read music for that matter. But they are masters of improvisation. You learned how to speak extemporaneously, maybe even wrote the above post without thinking too much about it beforehand. Same thing with musical improvisation. Take what you know and make it as natural as speaking, "tell your story" as they say in Jazz. Easier said than done, but that's the essence of it.
