- In this episode of the Caminandes cartoon series we get to know our hero Koro even better! It's winter in Patagonia, food is getting scarce. Koro the Llama engages with Oti the pesky penguin in an epic fight over that last tasty berry.
This short 'Free Culture' animation film was made with the free 3D software Blender and funded by the subscribers of the Blender Cloud platform. Already since 2007, Blender Institute successfully combines film and media production with improving a free and open source 3D creation pipeline.
Currently a lot of extra material and tutorials is being produced, to share the full production with the cloud subscribers.
Special thanks goes to the music by Torin Borrowdale, the sfx by Sander Houtman and the render power of RenderStreet.
The film and all of the files that made the film are available on Blender Cloud, in Creative Commons. Get your free downloads and read more about Caminandes and our other work here:

Hi idol!!!! 😍😍😍
3rd
I'm smiling. My wife is smiling. My cat is almost crying though. Guys you made such a kind and deeply heart-warming movie!
And these cries by Hjalti, phenomenally funny :)))
+Gleb Alexandrov We need Llamigos cat-reaction videos! Thanks so much Gleb! Hjalti is really a voice talent, not only cries but also quacks, shouts and whatever-the-penguin-is-doing!
hahahaha yes its realy good
now make more tutorials !! xD
+Gleb Alexandrov Thank you so much for this :)
That cat part got me crying hahaha
Gleb Alexandrov skin painting
In the end, the new #Caminandes is here because of friendship. We’re delighted to have supported such a kind and joyful adventure 💜 Thank you!
+RenderStreet Thanks for believing in us, RenderStreet!
Sure thing, it's been a pleasure!
Oh man Pablo and guys, this is amazing! The shear quality of the shots are amazing! The story is absolutely beautiful! Way to go! :D
the story had a mixed shots of "ice age, the hobbit, happy feet and the lovely sintel"
What a lovely combinations in 2min ;)
loved it, thank you
I love how much story you packed into a two minute short with no dialogue, simply incredible. I was smiling the whole time.
The team REAAALLY understand the color, hell yeah
yet another fantastic short film from the blender foundation
So nice to see a Blender movie of great quality and non-weirdo plot at the same time.
Patagonian sky is one of the most beautiful things in the world. The end definitely has Pablo Vazquez's touch
In this one I actually see alot more personality ad character in Koror. And one more thing, that first scene with him slipping on ice, CRAZY GOOD AND CREATIVE ANIMATON!!!
+Pinabery Studios That whole shot with the llama and all the penguins is full credit of the animation director Hjalti. He even did the voice for all the characters!
Pablo Vazquez I've heard of him, very talented, and so are all of you guys who made this film possible!
Showed this to my 3-year old niece on the weekend and she loved it. Kept asking for "another one". And when I turned it off for dinner, she threw a tantrum. So... success? :)
+Andrew Price haha awesome! I guess we have to make more then to avoid future tantrums! :D
+Andrew Price Yeah!I keep watch but, putting all that together.uhh!
Tantrum...
XD
I didn't you've a personal youtube channel other than the blender guru, I love you bro for what you do, you're basically an idol for me to follow :D,, although I don't use blender indeed.
*Can I use the background music in my videos !! Is that legal or not ?? 😪😪😪*
So adorable! Very nicely done :) When the train was coming, I totally didn't expect him to have gone for the berries! lol :D
Hats off to the Blender Institute team! This is phenomenal work!! It's beautiful! It's funny! It's heart-warming! LOVE IT!
*Can I use the background music in my videos !! Is that legal or not ?? 😪😪😪*
For me it is the Best Blender Movie I saw since Big Buck Bunny !!!
How is it possible that I got teary-eyed in this short time? Loved this. This is inspiration for me to continue learning how to animate!
Aww. Koro, you're such a nice guy!
This is so good that when I showed it to my co-worker, he asked if it was made by Pixar! You know it's good then!
This was brilliant!!!! Sequal idea gatherers come for the berries and they team up again to stop them
The sound and image match perfect. Is the music written for this movie?
+Koos Heemskerk Yep. score is from Torin Borrowdale, a young talent from LA.

+Blender Foundation Good teamwork
+Blender Foundation Is hard!
+Blender Foundation Fantastic
2:02 OMMMMGGG THIS IS AWESOME! I am crying 😭!!!! You guys can make a whole MOVIE! 😊 👍
Oh man, this has been so emotive! So cute and full of changes. Superb! Congrats.
Oh que bueno! It's insane how far Blender has come, especially in terms of rendering #mindblown
Nice story, animation,.. Good job guys!
wow... freeware makes such AMAZING results
+FloodMusic Offlical Its not free, it's open. An even further step!
+zuggamasta It's actually the opposite(It's Free Software, not Open or Freeware): www.gnu.org/philosophy/open-source-misses-the-point.en.html
www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.en.html
+Hyuri Pimentel Thank you for the more accurate clarification! :)
+zuggamasta well I would even go as far as to say that blender is their in-house tool like other animation studios have :P
+zuggamasta I think that the Spanish word libre suits it better, since free in this context reffers more to freedom (libertad) than to free of charge ;)
oh my my, Speechless is the only word for me.
That was really entertaining people, two thumbs up!
As always stunning work! Nice short, great timing, very good image & music interaction. I really like the ending. Hats off!
All around gorgeous!
Koros girly screaming at 1:13 makes me chuckle every time.
Love how these movies push the Blender software forward with new functions and features, Blender then pushes these movies forward with new techniques and ideas and so on ... forward and onward!!!!
That was perfect in so many ways ! Love Koro, thanks for the smiles :)
Wonderful, I say thanks and congratulations to all the blender institute. Keep in that way. Now I look at half speed to better appreciate every detail. Hugs to everyone.
Those landscapes are very pleasant to look at. Well done!
+CGMario - (ComputerGeneratedMario) That's the beautiful Patagonia brought to life by the magic of Andy Goralczyk!
Finally, Koro gets his just dessert! Cute little guy.
I LOOOVE the music design, in the first scene, it really shows. Notice how music changes with the movement of the characters, it's awesome! (also made me smile a lot :D)
I have been looking forward to this episode. Well done guys. Gotta feel the love at the end there. nice!
Awww... This is the cutest, sweetest, and heart-warming thing the Blender Foundation has produced. To Pablo, Hjalti, Sarah, Sarah, Francesco, and the rest of the team-congratulations on another milestone! You make the Universe proud. ;)

That's awesome, guys! Great job. :)
I'll be following your progress on your next projects just as I did with Cosmos Laundromat and Caminandes: Llamigos.
And you'll get my Blender Cloud Subscription. :)
+Tillmann Schütz Thank you awesome Cloud subscriber! You keep us going! Follow the blog in the cloud and listen to the Blender Institute Podcast to know everything we're doing and ask questions/requests and such.
Do you realize the animation (and overall work) is beggining to be really top level? I do not see many differences in the animation comparing with big companies.
*Can I use the background music in my videos !! Is that legal or not ?? 😪😪😪*
i was using 3ds max , then this year i switched to blender , and i was thinking to go back to 3ds max , but after i had seen this , man you gived me the most biggest motivation ever for choosing blender , a really big up , and i have to say it , this is the most beautiful youtube short fim ever

Amazing Colors! I love that saturation!
Awesome work! Big props to the Caminades Team!
Me gusto mucho la animación y secuencias así como el trabajo gráfico y por supuesto la historia. muy buen trabajo.
I'm an adult and I love this. I was searching for more after one video, it's sad there weren't many. This reminds me of Scrat in Ice Age
Beautiful piece of work and another great feather in the cap, congratulations to everyone involved in all the hard work to make this wonderful little cartoon.
Amazing work guys, well done!
Judayam zur multfilm bòlibdi ibratli ❤
respect .....i love this movie .good job guys
Good touching movie! Keep up the good work!
Outstanding. I was going to suggest making a feature length Caminandes and show it in movie theaters which may take a little over 3 years to finish (with the current team and talent + Belnder's capabilties) but I can wait :)
While I could see some resemblance to Scrat from Ice Age (not pointing fingers since this works more for me as inspiration at least and original at most), I like the message it sends. One kind act in return for another; thanks for making a thoughtful show.
Excellent everything :)

Awesome graphics, storyline, music. Can feel the great effort that was put into this. ;-)
This is amazing!!!! Loved it!!!! Pablo you and your team are incredible!
+Sheily Véliz ¡Gracias Sheily! :D
This is adorable and hilarious. Reminds me of Scrat from Ice Age.
