  • Will You Attend Your Own Funeral? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Living funerals gained popularity in Japan in the late 1900s and then in South Korea in the 2010s. Now, people across the world are holding living funerals to make peace with the inevitable. A living funeral is where the person getting a send-off is present at their own funeral. Holding a living funeral is a radical choice but it can have benefits. So is this simply a bizarre choice? Or can a living funeral be uplifting? Palki Sharma tells you.

In case you are referring to Korea in your statement , I would like to break it down to you that your statement infers the condition of North Korea. And the Korea mentioned in this video is South Korea.

It’s a fantastic idea that should be practiced more worldwide. People are horrified about the concept of death, this is a way to accept it more openly. People around the sick and dying don’t often hear the final message of their loved ones till it’s too late

From the age 60 everyday I prepare for my funeral. I have my clothes washed and ironed do my hair and put on my makeup and go to sleep. I make sure to meet my friends whenever I can and tell them today may be my last day. I'm 61 now😂

Living funerals practised in Japan and South Korea are people simply out of their mind. Perhaps they have nothing else to do better. In the last days people will be absurd like one people dressing like in dog's costume, behaving like a dog etc etc we should care two hoods to it. Kumar, Bangalore

Palki, you were really moved on this one. I think we should have Funeral day each year instead of birthday to connect with people whom we might not in case of a real event and exchange gratitude and celebrate for being able to make it before it was too late!

    This is new normal.
New way to earn tons of money.
If you have any mindless and senseless ideas. You can ear money by selling it to rich people and social media 'influencers'.
Literally any senseless and most stupid idea will earn you money. Just know where to find dumb rich people and greedy selfish influencers.

I have put myself up for full body donation to science when I die ( hopefully I've got a few decades to go).

My uncle, who has cancer, held a living funeral at my mom's house. We didn't go. I didn't know what to think or say to him. He had little to no involvement in our lives, was not a good dad to his daughter (my cousin), and has not displayed any signs of repentance...I would think to do my utmost to apologize to everyone who i may have hurt, ignored, or just displayed indifference towards. This is what I try to do every day...not always successful, but always trying. With the inevitability of his death approaching, shouldn't he reach out to seek and offer forgiveness for his own sins? We all should be doing this, especially me.

If you are terminally sick and have very little time left I would say it's a good idea. It will give everyone a an opportunity to prepare them selves for your demise and to let you know how much you mean to them. This way when the person dies for real people are not that shattered and don't live in regret having not spoken to the person. It's also an opportunity to say goodbye to people who you don't get to meet often possibly living abroad. It's soo much easier for everyone to gather in one place and meet the person than people coming home in small groups... especially if you are sick and weak..

@@SOULRELIEF22 forever means existed even before, have you any memory of the before?, or that you exist for a brief moment in time and come from nothing and go to nothing, the concept of life after death is a way to deal with the fear of death, but this causes enormous fear for most people.

This news was worth being told because there are people who feel like that, and it will generate more attention and views Cos death appeals to all. But I still do not agree with their ways. They are not from India but India has a its own tradition of facing mortality for deeper perspective. Just goto the cremation ground. You can also face mortality by attending the funerals of others. Death also happens in the family, so we don’t really need to look outside.
