  • When you envision your favorite fast food meal, what pops into your mind’s eye?
For most of us, that picture likely includes some form of single-use packaging. And at least some of that packaging ends up as trash in the environment, microplastics in the oceans and toxins into our bodies.
In this episode of Adweek Originals, we posed the question: Can fast food move beyond single-use and toward more sustainable, reusable packaging alternatives?
By chatting with researchers, innovators and industry leaders, we concluded that it just might be possible-but the push for reusables will face some serious headwinds on its way.
“When there’s movement to ban certain items, or to push back on the use of certain products, you’re facing an enormous lobby that has vested interests in keeping the status quo going,” Adam Chandler, author of Drive Thru Dreams: A Journey Through the Heart of America’s Fast-Food Kingdom, told Adweek.

This video was very helpful and the topic i think is extremely important. Shame it only has 386 views, it rly deserves more attention as food is consumed by everyone. Thank you!

I love that Mcdonald's in France has done away with all single-use plastic and most single-use paper packaging.

I'm sure it's lower than 90% these days. Plus, concern is growing as awareness is growing. The problem is, it will probably be too little too late. Nonetheless, I don't like having the 'blood' on my hands from all the animals dying from ingesting plastic.
