  • In this video I explain and demonstrate how to use a reversing camera's guidelines to park a car in a car park and how to parallel park on the road. I use two cars, one with rigid guidelines and another with bendy guidelines to show you have they differ.

    I see comments from many younger or new drivers who appreciate your excellent instruction and explanations. I am an older American driver 61 and I have learned alot from your videos. I just bought a new Kia Niro with the bendy lines back up camera and appreciate the explanation on how to properly use those grid lines.

Being an old geezer, I do feel a bit sorry for your front tyres when you turn them to full lock without crawling a little bit.. back in the day before power steering, the effort would have put folks off from doing that, anyway 😊

    Passed this morning, 2nd time with 0 minors! after a catastrophic 1st with 3 serious and 7 minors 3 weeks ago (with the same examiner). Conquer Driving is the best channel I've come across for clear and simple explanations and I could not have done it without the tips. I always struggled with anxiety, woke up last night 5 times with my heart pounding. Believe me, the feeling of passing is worth all the driving test worries. Brighter days ahead, and never give up. Wishlist from your channel: I suggest you make one video teaching how to deal with emergency vehicles (e.g. police patrols, ambulances, fire engines) with their flashing sirens and alarms on, in a driving exam with failing the exam. I read there are so many examinees failed their test just because these vehicles with sirens rushing towards or from behind. One even failed just because giving way to an ambulance plus a police vehicle but went out of the roundabout giveway line, so his examiner failed him. That could make so many learners feel either nervous or anxious since they won't face too many times in their real practices and very hard to build up such experiences. You can't make it happen by your own, you just can wait by luck or bad luck. So better teach them a little detailed, and make the rules and laws clear and avoiding from failing test by sirens.

      I would have thought that as you are a non qualified learner driver and the examiner is legally in charge of the vehicle he or she should take over responsibility and instruct you about what to do in this event or else if an emergency vehicle approaches you during your test you are guaranteed to fail.

      @@adrianridgway4333 I remember my mock test, the instructor took the wheel before I had time to react.

    Its weird.
    My first car i bought was a beaten, riced out 206 with tinted windows in the back and no driver assists whatsoever. mechanical mirrors and you could barely see anything what was going on behind you, especially in the dark. The 5 speed manual, the 1.4l engine, open front diff with no TC/ESC and the solid rear axle with absolutly no weight on it whatsoever combined with worn tires. just looking at the handbrake during winter would make you do a 180.
    i loved it so much, it made me a proper driver. I could wedge this thing through any gap when there was just a hairs width of extra space and park anywhere completely blind. I know the gears so precisely i could basically shift without the clutch.
    I drove it for 6 years until last month and now i finally got myself my first "modern" Car. A beautiful 2016 rs3. And i actively have to remind myself that i actually have stuff like a reverse camera or parking sensors now but i will always rely on my gut feeling of where the car is, even if its so much wider
    I mean driving long distance for example is so much more relaxed but this tiptronic can never match the feeling of control a manual gives you. greetings from Germany

      Well, that largely depends on your car's turning circle. On some (like Ford Focus Mk3 ST with notoriously bad turning radius, omg is that car hard to park in tight spaces) you have to use full lock to parallel park, on some (like old C-Class Mercedes with very impressive turning circle, that bastard can turn on a dime) full lock is often way too much.

To do one covering parking situations that you tend to encounter as a driver regularly but that wouldn't feature on the driving test (such as bay parking and parallel parking when there are cars already parked either side of the bay or cars in front and behind you when parallel parking) and 2. A short video about filling up your car with petrol or diesel and plugging an electric car in to charge ie. what you have to do at a service station that you wouldn't be taught by your instructor.

    while what you teach here is right for using the reversing cameras, if you got the static lines on screen, and compare the furthest lines with the parking space lines and the nearest lines, you can actually reverse in a near enough straight line rather than snaking the car into a parking spot, plus you won't need to input as much steering once lined up correctly. as you put 1/4 of a turn in all the time in this video by not looking at the bigger picture, it does take time and practice, but once you mastered that, the cars with the steering input moving lines are simple.

      Try to put your right foot in a position where you can pivot from one pedal to the other without taking your heel off the ground. This doesn't work for everyone but it helps most people, it depends on the size of your feet and the driving position in relation to the pedals. Curious, the way that it's done here seems a bit fiddly, with many small corrections while parking. The way I do it myself is essentially going for a "good enough" first attempt where I just need to be within the lines, and if I don't happen to be exactly in the middle, I do a correction by driving a little bit forward, before going back again.
    End result is the same, and to me personally it's easier because I don't have to worry too much about getting it perfect on the first try, which allows me to better observe what's happening around me.
    Would my technique be acceptable on a driving test as well, or would that be a potential issue?

      As long as you're safe, have good observations, good control of the car and finish the manoeuvre then you should pass.

    If you pass your test with reverse cameras what happens when you drive a car without one? I guess you don’t reverse it?

      In my opinion, ideally you would be taught to reverse using the mirrors.

    i assume this method will work the same on a completely full car park?

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  Před rokem

      Yes, just make sure you look around so that you don't hit a car with the front of your vehicle as well as the rear.

  • @gurugauravjoshi

    At 1:11 it is clear from outside camera that you will have to steer to left, to be in parking lot.
    However, at 1:15 display from back camera suggest that you will have to steer to right. is it due to camera setting (mirror image) ? I'm confused.
    At 16:56, bendy lines apper turning in opposite direction to the movement of steering..

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  Před rokem +2

      This is why I recommend that you don't think left or right when reversing as it flips when you turn your head. Better to think passenger's side or driver's side.

    camera parking...no, just don't.
    I recently installed a backup cam, all I use it for is knowing how much space I got on the back before I hit something, you got your mirrors - they give you all the information you need.

      I'm not sure about that.. I know the length of my car pretty well.. but in tight spots on my local high street, I still wind up using reflections in shop windows, to be sure. 😅

    if you get that close to the car behind and someone else gets that close to you in front then you are in a pickle .... I use courtesy distance of 1 foot which if a car parks behind the back car, or a car parks in front of me there is enough maneuver room to get out of the space

    I al ways wonder why it always must be parking backwards!Why not just park forward and the way out when the next time is just straight backwards! This of course when you park side by side.
