  • It’s the same format as before, I take a camera out, put a roll through it and talk through the experience of shooting it and the results I got. Hope you enjoy!

Hey, you forgot to show the spot metering mode pressing both buttons at the same time. I recommend you try this one out i love using it on mine, I've got the silver one 😊

Does that also lock in the focus or can you still focus on a different spot after, by half pressing the shutter botton?

i love that "90s mums" will forever have beautiful photos from this camera to remember their memories with their families, compared to the era of low quality digital/early phone cameras we went through in the first 2 decades of 2000s. Only now do phones and digital cameras actually take good photos and now we are circling back to used cameras from the 20th century.

Honestly it's a great camera and does what it's suppose to do perfectly and better images than most other cameras. I am not really sure why so many complain about the price for having a great little pocket camera for about 300 bucks. I have all sorts of other cameras and lenses and easily spend over $300 plus on just a lens. On the other hand I feel the Leica M6 is one of the most over hyped over priced cameras, as you can get the same results with almost any SLR.
To any one wondering if they should spend on this little Olympus gem, just do it you won't regret it.

I think you did a great job with the photos. 👍
Your conclusion at the end is spot on, the whole point of the mju is it's fully automatic, no complications, all the user has to worry about is framing the shot and pressing the shutter.
1990s mums had enough on their plate without having to deal with aperture, shutter speeds and lighting!
Agreed they are way overpriced but the hype is partly worthy, they are a cult classic in my opinion, a design statement and I still think they look cool and don't look too dated.
I bought the Olympus AF1 Mini brand new way back in the 1990s for a holiday in France, very similar to the mju, I was always impressed with the results.
Since then I've had several mju models, currently have the mju zoom 105.
Interestingly the zoom models were always more expensive and desirable but now they're cheaper!👍

The main attraction used to be the price relative to the form factor/lens quality. They were riddled all over the online marketplace and assorted flea market bins only a few years ago. Some say it's gotten overpriced and I tend to agree. Glad to see another video nonetheless, Jonathan!

Welcome back, been feeling deprived of decent north Cornwall analogue photography videos! MJUii is a great little camera and as someone else has already mentioned the spot metering mode is a game changer for a compact. Glad to see you mentioned the altering the DX code with stickers or pen to push/pull, I am sure your photography does not need it but the glitterati of the YT Analogue world (messers Greer, Wolfiebanger et al) would be horrified if you could not overexpose your Portra 400 to nuclear white out levels.... Thanks for the video, hopefully more to come with the shackles of C19 off.

I used of own a mju-2 as a daily carry and found it to over expose just slightly. My slides came out sort of bright. Perhaps +1/2 stop so one should be good with negative film. Also, when in doubt, use the spot meter to reduce the influence of f.i. a bright sky. Loved it, but the little hero died in the early 2000s.

The one thing about the mju ii that I'm tired of hearing is when you close the cover you have to reset the flash, etc.. DON'T CLOSE IT!!! In about 4 and a half minutes (I haven't timed it to the second) the camera goes to sleep and a half-press on the shutter button wakes it up with settings still in place!

I saw another video where the person was complaining that it seems to always want to shoot at f2.8. I really like the idea of having this in my pocket on digital shoots and taking it out for a few more vibey film portraits. If it's always defaulting to f8, I guess I don't need to spend so much on this with the f2.8 though.

Hi, and thanks for the video! It's funny that there is also one review (4 year review or something) where the fellow mentions that the camera will almost always choose a wider aperture over a slower shutter speed. Wonder why it would be like this. Maybe some tech at the olympus factory wanted to troll future snappers.

This is a big joke..in the 90s we used these as disposables..
The Af 10 and Af 1s have the same lens.. infact olympus never used 3rd party lenses on any point and shoot.. anything made in china vs to made to the previous Af 1 which were made in japan were far inferior...
These kids spending hundreds on zoom 80s and other zooms don't know they're the same lenses in the Accuras.. which sell for 10 bucks..
    .. and it's pronounced MEW!!!!
