- Neuroma pain can really interfere with running. One non-surgical alternative that runners should think about is alcohol injections. Less-invasive, lower risk than surgery, but with the same end result. In this video, Dr. Christopher Segler (Doc ON The Run) will explain everything a runner should know about alcohol injections as treatment for a neuroma.
Best video I've seen on the topic, by far! Thanks for putting this together.
Glad you found it helpful...thanks so much for watching and for the comment!
Thank you so much! Glad you found it helpful.
How do you typically diagnose a neuroma ? The podiatrist I saw used his fingers to press under my toes and asked how painful/tender that was. He then told me I had a neuroma and would give me a shot to help. I asked if it was necessary which he said yes. Little did I know he did a 6% alcohol injection (I thought it was cortisone). I feel naive to not have asked what he was going to inject but feel he should have told me the injection was intended to DESTROY my nerve if I had know I would have never allowed that. Anyways my toes were numbs for about 3-4 days and the numbness comes and goes. Would one shot completely destroy the nerve ? And since it was just one shot could the injection possibly be reversed ? Also how would you be able to tell damage was done to surrounding tissue since he didn’t use a ultrasound when doing the injection.
Sorry to hear about the frustrating scenario! These are all great question, but I cannot do consultations via CZcams comments. I would need to ask you questions to provide direction and clear answers. You can block my calendar for a private phone call or webcam call here: www.docontherun.com/talk-to-the-expert/
How about drg stimulation implant if alcohol and surgery don’t work?
