    Thank you, it's so hard to get an idea of how much things costs but as usual this video has been really helpful

    A good channel to guide, but if anyone is in despair , we got married last year in church followed by a beautiful day venue for two thousand pounds, thirty six guest and a non traditional wedding dress, but there are options of a beautiful day on a much smaller budget

      Thanks, that's super nice to know ❤️😊 our budget will be much smaller than 35K too - congratulations to you both

    Having read some of the other comments before watching the video, I was starting to wonder what you’d said! But as someone who is getting married in April this year, I don’t think anything you quoted as ballpark figures was unreasonable. Obviously people can spend more or less and you work within your budget and prioritise what’s important to you (we’ve saved money by not having a cake because we didn’t like the meaning behind the tradition) but based on quotes we’ve had back and suppliers we’ve gone with, it’s not wildly misleading and I think it’s nice to see someone be transparent and honest about what you can and can’t get.

    These costs are very realistic for 80 guests, if not very generous 😅. Its a cost of living crisis and lots of vendors have put up prices.
    I read a brilliant quote a few months ago which is "there's no such thing as reducing costs for a wedding, you're just moving the cost from the couple to the guests" so please bear that in mind. And not just financial costs but emotional and physical costs too.
    Great video

    This is a bit ridiculous... "I can't do it for less." A budget like this is much more than the average yearly wage in a cosy of living crisis. I fear we are losing sight of why you are getting married. I am getting married in April in Edinburgh for considerably less. I don't have whole rooms filled with flowers and it's not in a country manor but our main aim is to have as many people with us there that we love. At the end of the day I don't want our marriage to begin in lots of debt.

      I completely agree with you - we have literally the same view... All the people there who we love and yes it won't be extravagant, but it will make us happy, and we'll be doing it for significantly less than £35K. As much as we're excited to be married there is no need for a show, it's our day and like you said we don't want to be in debt as soon as we start married life together that seems insane. Good luck for yours 😊 I wish you both well

      100% agree. I cannot imagine spending the equivalent of a down payment on a house (I'm in the U.S., so I know there are differences) on one day. We'll be spending about $5k on our Sept. wedding and even that makes me cringe sometimes! Congrats!

      Good luck and congratulations! - we'll be on a smaller budget too. I must say though I am please for the general breakdown guide, because regardless of what we'll actually spend in the end (much much less than £35K) I do like to know what sort of portion of the budget we will assign to each supplier, if that makes sense. The video, although a different budget to ours, is an informative one and I'm glad I watched it. Thank you Lauren

    Hi Lauren, I have to say thanks, as your videos were really helpful for us in planning our wedding in Oct 2022. Most of the costs you mentioned here were a reasonable ball park vs our experience, although every wedding is different of course. £10k on a venue hire seems like a lot though, I would've thought most couples could spend well below this, especially on dry hire.
    My advice to couples: don't be disheartened and think you have to spend £35k to have a 'nice wedding'. Find a dry hire, DIY as much as you can, and prioritise the things that are important to you!

    • @BluebirdBrideAcademy
      @BluebirdBrideAcademy  Před rokem +3

      Thanks Tom. Agreed it does not need to cost £35k and it’s very difficult to showcase how a budget can work out. But hopefully this has worked well to give guidance on costings overall. £10k for a Saturday venue peak season is based in Surrey, so definitely more cost effective options in other areas for sure. ☺️❤️

      @Bluebird Bride Academy definitely agree with you. It's crazy how much location makes a difference. Fwiw we spent £1100 on our dry hire venue in North Yorkshire (Saturday in October, no peak/off peak pricing). That's obviously very low end cost wise, and as result we had to put in a lot more work ourselves, (no venue coordinator!). But it was a grand stately building and was perfect for us😀

    How much would you budget for rings? Or what sections did you include this in?

    It's interesting to see how the splits work and compare that to the budget we have made. However, watching this I'm extremely grateful that we live in the North of England where the general costs seem to be lower.

    Would be fun to see a super budget friendly video. A swedish wedding costs on average less than £6000, with 1/3 paying less than £2000 for theirs. It doesn’t have to be a big production. If you and your guests have music, food and drinks and dress upp it'll be special enough.

    @sue310689 Před rokem +3

    With £35000 you can buy an small house or 50% for a house in my country (yes depends of size or the place) but I always find interesting the difference in price for everything

    You are amazing and very helpful for so many couples! Very handy video.
    I am planning our wedding and so far with everything we are under £17K (60 ppl). However we decided to go for something totally different as we had to cancel our wedding abroad due to health reasons of one of our parents and didn't want to copy what we were planning.
    We have the ceremony in a castle and the reception in a cool cocktail bar that doesn't need a lot of decoration. They had a DJ in house and charged us only £300 for it, so we had money for saxophone as well. The food will be from the venue, just a bunch of sharers and we'll have 4.5K behind the bar for any drinks the guests fancy. So some hope for couples, it can be done if you want it different. 😊

    Thank you as always for the really helpful advice. Like you say, this video gives you a good benchmark at which to work out where you can realistically save/splurge/whatever. Our budget is coming in around £20,000 but your advice has given me peace of mind that where we are saving we’re not scrimping if that makes sense?!
    One question I have is guest rooms at the venue. Our venue is exclusive hire with 9 rooms available for guests. The bridal suite is included in our venue hire but guest rooms are £140 which include breakfast the next morning. When we booked it the manager said that guests usually paid for themselves on the day/checkout. We’ve now had our best man querying the fact they have to pay, saying that it’s tradition for the bride and groom to pay for their bridal party/grooms party accommodation!! This has made my blood pressure hit the roof (not least because it’s the best man!!). Please can you put my mind at rest that we aren’t being unreasonable? Xx

    • @BluebirdBrideAcademy
      @BluebirdBrideAcademy  Před rokem +3

      That is absolutely not tradition. I’m not surprised your bloody pressure hit the roof bless you! ❤️❤️

    • @rachy5384
      @rachy5384 Před rokem +2

      Just reading this comment through - thanks Lauren for confirming that that is deffo not the tradition, was gunna have a bit of a panic because we don't want to be rude to anyone but there is no way that paying for guest accommodation is within our budget either!

  • @brookes4802
    @brookes4802 Před rokem

    Such a good way to visualise it but scary how it can add up. Our wedding is over a year away and our budget is 4 months worth of our household salary as we don’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on one day but still want to include a few things we want.
    When thinking about this “average” lux wedding budget keep in mind that the average household income in London will be very different to other parts of the uk. Also remember you don’t have to have a massive wedding. You can easily get married for under £1000 if you just want to get married and not have a big celebration afterwards if it’s the actual getting married part that’s important to you. I’m only saying this because one of my friends got engaged but then had a massive panic attack when she went to a wedding show and found out how much it would all cost and they ended up calling it off completely.

    My venue cost 5.200. Church 250. Wednesday. 54 day 90 night. 3 course sit down plus provided alcohol decoration chair covers and bows inluding evening buffet. What more do u need. Cash bar in the night. My incrediable photographer 600 very experianced and comes with a sweet cart Bare in mind youll maybe look about at those photos once or twice in your life time. Fake flowers because i have bad pollen allergy made by family. Cake made by family. Its about me marrying my fiance its not about how much you can spend on your guests made my own invites by hand made my own order of service made my own table names stands etcs 600 for hair and make up for me and my bridesmaids and a trial their award winning. We kicked weddings butt 😂 we litterally got everything a posh wedding and and all the bits we need. Roll on august
