But nevertheless the authorities in Burundi 🇧🇮 should now-a-days change their politics. I follow some European friends biking from Egypt 🇪🇬 to South Africa 🇿🇦 and they had a very tough time at the Burundi boarder. They received a 3days transit visa but very expensive. They had to go to the capital city to extend the visa and it's such a headache 😫. No tourist is willing to visit Burundi for sûre and this will not help develop the country and the people will remain poor.😢

It must be even worse on the congo side because normally people were able to travel from uvira to bukavu by crossing into Burundi, then into Rwanda from where they can cross back directly to bukavu. Nice road all the way, making it a comfortable and fairly short journey. But now they might have to go through Burundi all the way to Tanzania, then drive to Rwanda, before getting to bukavu from there. All this because the rulers won’t let them cross from Burundi to Rwanda.
I am Burundian. In October 2018, I went to Burundi to visit my family and I went to the town of Muyinga to see an old classmate. From there I went to the border and I walked the few hundred meters between the Kobero border post and the small stream separating Burundi and Tanzania. The road was asphalted/paved. I would like somebody to confirm that the road that crosses into Tanzania is now a dirt road (on a slope with so many heavily loaded trucks/lorries passing there) . It is true that Burundi still has to deal with the problem of street kids/``enfants de la rue" (who left their family because of poverty/overpopulation?). These kids are definitely NOT in a mood to sing, they have a difficult life AND STILL YOU WANT THESE FIVE KIDS TO SING FOR YOU BEFORE YOU GIVE THEM 2000 BURUNDIAN FRANCS (OR ABOUT ONE THIRD OF US DOLLAR). SHAME ON YOU!!!

It's only the land border with Rwanda that is closed. You can still fly from Rwanda and the other land borders, with Tanzania and DRC are open.
