In creating Elytra, Paul Dooley was inspired by the impressive F/A-18F Super Hornets and F-14 Tomcats and nature’s aviators; fireflies, ladybugs, and beetles. My Dad Reyes S Gaglio was in the U S Navy Band, he played the string bass. In 1960 they were to play for President Eisenhower and the President of Brazil. Upon landing their airplane collided with an Argentinian airliner. They landed in bay. 19 band members were killed, including my Dad. 3 members that had been playing cards in the tail end of the plane rode it down and servived. We lived in Washington DC at the time. Mom & Dad originally from Los Angeles, California. At the time Mom had a 6, 3 & 2 year old. 6 weeks later my younger sister was born. Mom never remarried. She graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a teaching degree. She taught at St. Catherine's Military Academy in Anaheim for 30 + years. Never remarried, raised 4 kids on her own and took custody of one grandchild. She's now 92 and still lives in the home she moved into in 1960.
